Yes, I am leaving. By myself. With no children to ask me a million questions and a have desperate need for a Sprite. No husband to say things like, “No, we are not stopping at that yard sale.”
Politeness makes the home sweeter.
“Please pass the biscuits.” “Thank you for helping me.” “Excuse me.”
Once the wedding was over there was more excitement. The very next day, Sunday, was Hope’s 17th birthday. Instead of a gift, she wanted to go shopping. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
The girls and I did all of the flowers for our friends’ wedding last week. That would have been hard enough, but then I decided to get sick in the middle of it all.
I don’t know about you all, but I am so glad to be getting back to normal around here. The holidays really cut into my diet and school….doesn’t happen.
I made the announcement yesterday, “Everyone is expected to be up by 7:am tomorrow and ready for school by 9 with chores finished.
Last night’s party was so much fun! We opened up our home, but the other ladies did all of the planning. What a relief, since I spent the entire day making cookies with my girls. What I skipped over during the Christmas holidays I made up for yesterday.
It was 4:00 in the morning and I was sound asleep. In my dream someone was calling, “Mommy! Mommy!”
Then that groggy feeling, maybe-it’s-not-a-dream, try to wake up….is someone calling me?
Rhonda over at Southern Hospitality is hosting this party and I thought it would be fun to participate. If I’m feeling like a frump because I’ve slept for the past three days….looking back at what I’ve done around here in the past year should snap me out of it.
Christmas at our house progresses in three phases.
One: Preparation….months of preparation. Shopping for that perfect little thing that will light up the eyes of each child, decking the halls and celebrating with friends.
