Free Christmas Decor, Pt 3

It may be a little late for Christmas decorations, but there’s always next year to think about.  The older I get, the faster it seems to come around again.

Since my floating shelves are new this year, I had a lot of fun decking them out for the holidays.  But of course, no money could be spent.

Decorating the shelves was easy enough.  It was the wall that I needed something for.  I took an old, empty picture frame that was gathering dust in the storage building and fixed it up.

I cut cardboard from a cereal box to fit the opening and wrapped it in some of the wrapping paper I am using this year.  Then I used my love, the Cricut, to cut the letter “P” in red scrapbook paper.  Easy breezy.

I like it.  Fun and free.  Doesn’t get much better than that.

I took ornaments off of the tree, added ribbon to them and laid them on the shelves.

Photos from Christmases past are scattered around the shelves.  Every time I look at them I wonder, “Who are those young, skinny people with only a couple of kids?”

I had plans for some Cricut vinyl cutouts of trees and ornaments for the wall, but I didn’t get around to it.  Oh well….next year.

I wish I had time to make everything that pops into my head.  There’s a LOT going on in there.  James says it’s a scary place, my brain.  It runs a million miles a minute with new ideas.

He has no idea really.  I don’t even tell him most of it.  This kind of genius is a burden.

Or a curse, depending on how you look at it.

James might say it’s living with a crazy person that constantly moves the furniture and uses the Cricut at all hours of the night.

Me, I’d say he should consider himself lucky to have a wife that decorates with no money and forget that I haven’t made a decent meal for a couple of months.

But our floating shelves look cute for Christmas, and that’s all that really matters, right?

  2. Oh to have just a smidgen of your imagination. I’d like some of your ability too, but the imagination would be a start….
    The shelves look gorgeous.
I’m not sure my husband could possible see anything beautiful enough to make him forget even one night without a full dinner, but I reckon yours might. I think he should! x

  3. I wish I coud harness the things going thru my brain! The ideas are there and gone so fast that sometimes I’m not even sure I thought them!!

  4. Love it! When I saw the pic, that’s the 1st thing I noticed, and was wondering how it was made, even before reading about it. That would be great on a wall with family pics too=)
