At the shower yesterday a mom asked me a question, “How do I get my toddler to fall asleep on my lap or on a blanket on the floor?”
She has beautifully trained her baby to sleep in his bed at home. The problem is that when she goes out.
My little Adam is having some problems lately with self control. It’s hard to be 9 years old.
I share this with you because it is a perfect opportunity to show patience, mercy and love to your child.
I get a lot of emails with questions, which is great, but I have a hard time getting back to everyone.
So I thought I’d use today to reply to some of the more common inquiries….
This morning as I rub the sleepy from my eyes and try to wake up for school lessons and errands and housework, I remember that little voice calling me in the night. “Mommy! Mommy!”….as I rush into his room to rescue him from those dreams.
I tag a lot of my posts as child training. I don’t really think of it as child training though. I should call it, “Raising godly children and creating a peaceful home.” That’s what it’s all about!
I spent some time this week with a dear friend whose children have rebelled and left her. I sat and listened to her pour out her broken mother’s heart.
Before I continue with my series on child training tips, I want to share another short, but important list.
What Child Training Is NOT:
All of these lessons are things we are still working on every day. I speak not from a perfect home, but from a place where we make God’s Word our measure of rule. We are all flawed, but if we humble ourselves and seek His guidance, training our children can be a joyful, fulfilling experience.
How does one go about teaching a small child to go to bed without trouble?

As parents, it is so easy to lose sight of the big picture. Long term goals are hard to remember when we’re trying to make dinner and the three year old is fussing. Our children’s adulthood seems so far off. But really, it is just a touch away.
