Summing Up
This week the kids and I ran to visit my parents. It’s a 5 hour drive….nuthin’ by Texas standards.
While visiting my parents, we also got together with good friends to show them the kids’ movies.

How does one go about teaching a small child to go to bed without trouble?
Here are a few thoughts I have:
Jacob and I were outside by 7:00 this morning to get the platform built for the pool ladder.
Patience likes to help…so she held the boards for Jacob while Noah and I assembled the ladder.
The rains have stopped our pool preparations. The children can barely contain themselves. I mean how cruel is it to spend a week prepping for a pool, a whole day watching them install it and then not be able to swim? It’s practically torture.
Today was a big day in the Pennington household.
Our backyard project made a giant leap forward….
More teasers from our backyard project…..
My two sweet, older boys dug a long, deep trench right where the stone grill was.
All in all it cost me under $30 for a fun and unique lamp.
Now I just need to cover that hole in the ceiling…..

This monstrocity has been sitting in my backyard forever.
And I’ve always hated it.
As parents, it is so easy to lose sight of the big picture. Long term goals are hard to remember when we’re trying to make dinner and the three year old is fussing. Our children’s adulthood seems so far off. But really, it is just a touch away.
