Happier ‘n a Tick on a Fat Dog
I am HOME! In the words of Phil Robertson, I am happy-happy-happy.
I got home yesterday afternoon from my three weeks of constantly being on the road. It’s all behind me now and the sun is shining, the pool is beckoning and last night my pillow was so glad to see my weary ol’ head.
Today I am going to take my 2 boys, ages 10 and 12, out for some much needed Mommy time. I feel a toot-filled, burp-heavy day coming on. Why boys think that is so funny I have no idea, but just the mention of underwear sends them into peals of laughter. I guess I should be thankful that all 9 of my children don’t want to have long, deep conversations about their hair. Today all I have to think about is how to get from one place to another while the boys point out the window at billboards and try to figure out which one is the biggest.
My diet is going well. I am not finding it as hard as I expected to find things to eat. Once I allowed my mind to accept that there was something out there besides fried chicken with cream gravy I realized that I didn’t have to starve. I actually snacked on dehydrated okra & peas while I drove and satisfied my Sonic needs by buying a whole bag of ice and adding it constantly to my lemon water.
I hope I can still keep my Southern Girl ID card after all of this.
Once I recover from the trips and get a few naps under my belt, I have some painting projects to work on. Plus I took a few things that my mom was getting rid of that I am going to makeover for my house. It’s not that her stuff really needs making over, in fact it’s mostly too nice for my junk filled home. I need to burlap it up a bit.
Have a great day!
Funny, funny, funny! Love that Southern Girl ID! And I’m glad you’re getting time with the boys. Thank God for fresh air and air freshener, right? 🙂
Ok, now all I want is some biscuits n’gravy! Haha! From one Duck Dynasty fan to another… Welcome home!
‘burlap it up a bit’ – love it! I’m glad you are home sweet home and that your new healthy eating plan is going so well – I’ve been praying for you! God is faithful and He will help you with this – not only will you have a renewed body, but a renewed mind as well as you seek His help and guidance on this journey to better health.
Welcome home!
I gave up real deal coca cola a month ago. It is hard sometimes, like when we’re having popcorn, but I drink my water or unsweet tea (I’m originally from Southern California) and I’m good to go. It helps me to have an icy drink on hand at home or in the car! Keep it up – we can do it!
Home is always good! Congrats on trying to eat healthy, but what does dried okra taste like? I’m not sure I could eat it without some coating of cornmeal and being fried! Good for you 🙂
I knew I liked you! Anyone who quotes Phil Robertson is a friend of mine, Jack!
Love the ID thing. I was born in the South (Mississippi), raised there off and on until I was in Jr. High. Was in the North in between times and have been here since Jr. High.
I get the southern fix now and again. I was in Texas last Fall and will be again this year…..hopefully really soon.
But there is nothing like home sweet home.
Love that Southern Girl ID! I think I’m cravin’ that pitcher of sweet tea. Hope it was a great day!
Southern Girl ID…hahaha!!!
