Embracing Modesty, No. 14

We are having fun taking pictures of what we are wearing each day and showing it to you.  It’s become our morning ritual…. get dressed, take our pictures, eat breakfast, enjoy the rest of the day, repeat.

To keep our look fresh we all do a lot of mixing and matching.  Most of us have 4-5 skirts and about 12 tops that we switch around.  Toss in a few good accessories and you can look nice easily.

This simple plaid top has a nice shape to it without being too revealing.  Hope likes to wear it at least once a week.  It’s also great for all seasons.

We always have on at least one accessory.  Here she’s just wearing some cute dangle earrings.

Here she is again on a different day.  She likes a patterned top.

With a super cute flower bracelet!

I’ve said before, Patience likes a simple look. She wears this same top with a white skirt in the summer.

But she still likes a cutie pie accessory.  The headband is her favorite.

Grace is such a classic girl.  Every day she looks so nice the rest of us pale in her shadow of loveliness.  She’s great at mixing and matching.  She wears all of these pieces in other ways.  Sometimes this sweater is draped over her shoulder or the shirt underneath is worn open over a t-shirt.

She’s a scarf girl….

And you all have come to know Faith and her funky look.  She’s like her mom.  She rarely wears the same outfit twice.

Do I even need to point it out?

I’m challenging you to look in your closet and think of how you can wear your favorite outfit in different ways with different combinations.

  1. I really enjoy your Embracing Modesty posts – so I’m glad you and the girls are enjoying doing them! With spring time finally here we’ve had a few warmer days (now it super chilly again, but at least we had a glimpse of the warm days to come!) so it was fun to look at my summer clothes and think about adding a few new things to change it up! I need to do better with the accessorizing for sure!

  2. I’ve seen your girls often wear what look like higher-necked camis under a larger neck line. Is there a specific place they like to get these? I have been looking for a very long time, and can’t seem to find any that are high enough up without cutting up under the arms.

If I’ve missed the answer to this somewhere, I apologize!

  3. I love how much fun you and your daughters seem to have together! It shines right through the screen and I love that as much as I love the outfits. For so long my husband and I went through the parenting motions, just gliding along, making decisions in the moment instead of being purposeful and deciding what our convictions were ahead of time. Our oldest is almost nine and we are just now beginning to have these important discussions. Better late than never! It warms my heart to see parents who enjoy their older children and older children who respect their parents choices and values. Thanks for the encouragement!

  4. I cleaned out my closet! I was still hanging on to a few at-home pants and shorts from before we started wearing skirts only. At the beginning of the transition, I did not have enough skirts to wear at home and out. Faith made me look at my give-away clothes in a new light—how can I use these? I am cutting one pair of elastic waist pants just above the crotch, and sewing the bottom 1/2 of a shirt, to make a simple at-home skirt. I also had 2 newish golf-type shirts that I never wear…I’m cutting them just below the armpit, and putting elastic in them to make play-skirts for little girls!
