Ringing in the New Year with a Cough

So many blogs I read have been looking back at 2011.  I do love seeing what they remember from this past year, but I’m not much for looking back.  I have never really thought of the changing of the year as any big deal except for how hard it is to remember when I write the date.  I’m still writing 2009 half of the time.

This week has been full of wedding plans and church decorating.  It’s been a long process, but it is looking gorgeous.  I can’t wait to show you pictures.  I’m under a gag order now, but next week I am free to show you everything.

I am going to the church this afternoon to finish up some details and I’ve decided to take Levi with me.  This morning he asked me why I leave all of the time.  STABS me right in the heart.  So I will take him.  It should be great to have a 4 year old there, in case I need help with any little pearls or long strips of tulle.

Now, y’all know how I hate to complain (stop laughing) but right in the middle of the wedding stuff I got sick.  Like really sick.  Instead of our usual stomach stuff I have a fever, splitting headache, lung congestion, etc.  It’s just about all I can do to keep my head in an upright position and I am s-s-s-so, so c-c-c-cold.  Why do these things happen at the worst times?

But the kids are taking good care of me.  Each night when I’m finished working on the wedding I crash into my recliner.  They leave me alone and take care of themselves.  They check on me occasionally to be sure I haven’t died from extreme coughing.  My friend Sara even brought me soup yesterday which felt so good going down.  You know how it is….you don’t realize you have a sore throat until you drink something warm that relieves it.  Ahhhhhh…..

Aren’t you glad you stopped by here at the Point?

Just doing my job, spreading joy for the new year.

Have a wonderful, blessed weekend! {cough}

  1. I am sorry you are sick…at least you are not dealing with the stomach stuff!

  2. You probably already know this, but Vicks on your chest works great to help stop that irritating nighttime coughing. Plus, the smell is so strong it can’t help but unclog your nose and possibly every pore on your face. Hope you feel better soon!

  3. Yeah, me too. This week I’ve come down with my typical “winter” bronchial cough. It’s not as bad down here as it was in Michigan, though, and for that I am very grateful. I’m more annoying that fussy babies in church, however. Is there such a thing as a “Coughing Room”?? I’m going to try raw honey. Heard today at church that it takes away a cough so one can sleep. May you be healthy the rest of 2012, once you get over what you have now. God bless!
