Can I Sleep While Teaching School?

After two weeks of traveling I am home and planted firmly in my recliner.  I plan to sit here until next Thursday.  Then I will get up for a shower and sit back down.

The convention was wonderful.  My cup was filled with encouragement and friendship.  I met several new friends that I will be looking forward to seeing more of next year.  I want to send a shout out to Kathleen, Lana, Mykal, Amy (next year-Jason’s Deli-you and me baby!).  Also A Bokros Kind of Life, who I didn’t get to meet, but we Tweeted a lot.  I guess we could have Tweeted each other from home, but it seems different when you know you’re in the same building together.

On Saturday night we saw Tim Hawkins.  James and I nearly fell out of our chairs from laughing so hard.  The Snowflake song was my favorite…..

If laughter is good medicine, I should be healthy for a while.

I made a few purchases and am gearing up for getting school going again.  I now have a huge pile of books on the school table waiting for me to go through them.  Maybe I should have one of my slave-children bring them to me in my recliner.  Do you think it would be wrong if I did school from the chair this year?  I could let the children gather ’round and I could read to them and give little assignments.  This would allow me to nap while they do their work.  It’s definitely something to think about.  Teenagers love it when Mommy snores while they are trying to figure out algebra problems.

I will need to go to the grocery store some time this week and maybe do some laundry.  But otherwise I plan to rest and be with the family.  Maybe get my internal clock reset since I haven’t known what day it is since July 2nd.

Happy August!

  1. Have them load your recliner on wheels, then they can roll you wherever you need to go. 🙂
I am in favor of whatever work we can come up with for our bondservants (children). With the energy you would save from being rolled around, I bet you could dream up some extra jobs for them! Win–Win!

  2. We started today….I like to get done before our state convention in early May so I can just focus on the next year. Also this gives us flexibility in our schedule, if we need to take extra time off we can.

Oh and we LOVE Tim Hawkins!

Enjoy your week in the chair….:)

  3. I’m so glad I got to meet you! You are such a blessing!

I say stay in the recliner even when you need to go to the store. Have them load you up on the top of the truck and knit or tweet. You’ll def. have the neighbors talking. 🙂

  4. When I have not been well, feeling tired or just plain naughty (lazy) I have done school from bed, (I love my bed it is my favourite place to be!) they can bring me work that needs correcting or sit with me in bed while they work or I read to them etc. Bed School is always good for a little while anyway!

  5. Sounds like a great weekend! Nice to travel, but even better to be home. I think school from the recliner is a stellar idea. When I was pg with my first and still teaching school I would sit on a sofa in my classroom and have the kids sit on the floor at my feet while I taught…and they were jr. high age!

I tried very hard all weekend to NOT think of everyone at the convention having a wonderful time…you know the whole jealousy thing and all. Hoping to see you at the convention next year!

  6. Yay, you updated today!! I just posted as my FB status that Mykal, Maggie and I made it in your blog! Lol- I just woke my husband up from his “bear in hibernation” snoring to tell him this news. He wasn’t as excited as me;).
