I Think I Can, I Think I Can
There are five little words that James loves to hear me say….
“Hey! I’ve got an idea!”
He says it sends chills down his spine.
Isn’t that sweet?
For weeks now I’ve been mulling over building some new products for Shop 24 and I decided this past weekend was the perfect time to try them out. But first I needed to go to the hardware store. Then another trip to the hardware store, then another….you know how these projects go.
I convince James by saying things like, “Aw, come on. It won’t cost more than $10.” Famous last words.
James will undoubtedly have that engraved on my tombstone.
If he goes first I’m going to have his say, “No, you can’t have any more money for your crazy projects.”
I’ve been bent over my miter saw for the past 2 days and still, nothing to show for it. I need a t-shirt that reads, “Quiet, Genius at Work.” Or better yet, “Stop asking me if you can have a snack when I’m using power tools!”
I am, by some quirk of nature, surprisingly good at mitering corners with wood trim. So I decided to use my gift for the betterment of mankind and make something to sell in my shop. Create something with wood, I thought.
So far it’s a bust. I just can’t get my handiwork to look like the idea in my brain.
That’s OK. I’m going to keep trying. I’m like the Little Engine That Could. With power tools. And 9 snack-less children. And a husband that wonders how he got himself into this mess.
Just remember it took Thomas Edison 10,000 tries to get the incandescent light right! Of course, James may not survive if it takes 10,000 tries to get your project right! But yes, you can do it!
Can’t wait to see it!
LOL. My husband gets those same chills over my ideas.
My husband hates the words I have an idea only slightly less then the words, “We need to think out of the box.” and “If you don’t like it we could always move it back.” 😉
Lisa, You always make me laugh! My husband hates those dreaded words too. I can’t wait to see what you are up too.
Hugs,
Sherry
You are so adorable! I definitely think the genius t-shirt is a “must.” Remember Edison and the light bulb! We believe in you!! 🙂
I love it! My husband gets the same when I say, “I was thinking…”. Normally, he’s out of the room before I can say another word!
I can’t wait to see what’s a-coming!
This whole post made me giggle….Mike probably hates it when I say: I had an idea today….might need your help with a project. 😉
Morning Lisa,
As ever you are too funny! he-he 😉
Thanks for the encouragement for everyone today to just keep on …trying!
At whatever the Lord directs you to….
My son is impressed at your a Momma & good with the miter-saw! Yes! 🙂
Have a great week Lisa- I do still visit you I do not always have time to comment..
as ever thou I leave blessed!
Thanks~
Lori-Marie 🙂
My shirt would read: Trust Me, I saw it at Lisa’s blog.
My tombstone? Still thinking on that.
Will let you know when it comes to me.
My husband gets those same chills, although it usually means he is going to do the project not me – don’t do power tools!
I love this “Stop asking me if you can have a snack when I’m using power tools!”
Just how I feel about certain kinds of interruptions at certain times.
I’m so excited to see what new idea you have for us to enjoy! I love all the items you have in the shop!
You and your great ideas are such a blessing to me.
Sheri O.
I had something profound to say but then Camden stopped nursing, looked up at me with a big smile and started cooing. So now I just have ooey gooey thoughts in my head.
too funny….”I can’t get to look like it does in my head”- I could say that about a lot of things like homeschooling or my laundry room or …….. Yeah. Identify. Just remember: you will reap a harvest if you don’t give up!
Susan!
