The Shower was a Success!
I may have been a day early, but thankfully we got ourselves straightened out and the shower was beautiful.
Actually, it was kind of nice to have everything done the day before. We just got up, put on the same clothes and headed out the door. It was a bit deja vu.
The bride, Bethany, is moving from Texas to Iowa. I’m not really sure why anyone would do that. Why would anyone ever move AWAY from Texas?
But we decided it would be a good shower theme, so we ran with it. We gathered up all of our porch pumpkins and used my true love, my Cricut, to decorate the pumpkins.
The girls and I enjoyed coming up with fun things to put on the pumpkins.
The flowers were from Walmart. I used the same vases that I used for Jacob’s graduation.
I didn’t even change the twine. I just emptied the rocks and plants and removed the red tassel.
Because the groom-to-be is a corn farmer, I used corn in the vases.
We just filled them with corn then sunk a small, disposable cup into the corn and put some floral foam in the cup. I love the way they turned out!
Patience made the Bible verse cards. There were at least 2 of them on each table. We used the rocks from the graduation flowers to hold them down.
I took the bases from the cages on my mantle and used them for the little “pumpkin vases”.
It was simple, cut the tops off of the teeny pumpkins, clean them out with a spoon and stuff some floral foam into it. It only used a few flowers, which was great since we were really stretching the flowers.
They were perfect for using outside. I didn’t have to worry about anything getting broken.
The bride’s new last name.
We also made bean bags for the little ones to play with. It was fun to see the kids all tossing them around.
Inside I used the glass and candles. I love these candles….I got them at Costco. They are battery operated, no worrying about kids getting burned.
This was my favorite pumpkin. I finally found another use for the USA Cricut cartridge that I bought when we were studying American geography. Who would have thought I’d ever need a vinyl cutout of Iowa?!
I didn’t get pictures of all of the pumpkins, but we made some with the wedding date on them, hearts and Bible verses as well.
During the shower five women were asked to share about marriage and living for Christ. It was such a blessing for our younger women to hear. Honor Christ first, then your husband. Work on communication, admire him, be prepared for hard times. What wisdom!
I was so glad my daughters got to hear it.
Grace and her soon-to-be-married friend.
It was a delight for my girls and I to serve this precious family. They are so special to us.
Plus, you KNOW I love to decorate pretty much anything from bridal showers to living rooms to the chicken coop. We really enjoyed it! I loved working with my girls. We’d plan and laugh and be silly.
“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.” Titus 2:3-5
oh my I WISH I could find an excuse for you to throw ME a party…I love everything!! Especially the corn-filled flower vases. You rock, again!
loveya!
Everything is beautiful and so creative! Love the pumpkin with the states…so personalized!
Getting to do things like this with your wonderful girls must make it ten times more fun. I miss you all.
Love Laura
I so admire you for your talent as well as your commitment to your Savior. What an example for your precious children. And, I don’t understand anyone that would leave Texas either!!
What a lovely shower! You truly have a gift for hospitality and serving others!! And to think you are blessed to share this with your daughters…(and what clever ideas!) Inspiration has struck… oh the cards I see and the wall hangings!! Thank you!
We have pumpkins all over our house right now which will soon be loped in the oven to be used for pies, pumpkin butter, and breads! (our decor will be very simple for a while as we are about to have an addition added to our humble abode! ah some place for weary visitors to lay their heads plus room for the musical instruments which may be invading our home…. a marimba, piano (?), and a saxophone plus the keyboard and bells which already reside.)
You did a great job, it looked so precious!
Lisa,

Hi Lisa, Everything you did for the shower looks wonderful. The pumpkins are adorable and what a cute idea putting corn in the vases. I am always amazed at your creativity.

I echo the other ladies….the Pennington women did a gorgeous job with all the decorations!!
The Texas-to-Iowa pumpkin was my favorite too…
It was a delight to spend the day with ya’ll, and we look forward to THE day!
Yes, I echo the comments from my daughter, Allison: The Pennington Ladies have been blessed with much creativity and y’all are the real deal! Thank you for sharing your love for Bethany and her family with us. The wise women who shared gave Godly counsel. Let those who have ears to hear (young and old!), hear (and apply!) See y’all on January 8th!
That’s great! I would love for you to come link this up at my Strut Your Stuff Party, and enter the giveaway as well!
