Too Tired for Shoes!

I’m going to confess to y’all that I’ve been pretty unproductive this week.

My activity for the past few days has amounted to sleeping and eating lettuce.

I did go into the big city on Wednesday for my monthly Costco, Sams and shoe shopping.  And just to show you how tired I am….I didn’t go look for shoes.  THAT, my friends, is tired.

I have been on a search for brown shoes for two years.  I am very picky about my shoes and for some reason, the shoe makers have decided that every woman wants to wear spiked heels and booties.

Do they have any idea what booties look like on a girl with full calves?  And spiked heels don’t exactly work on the farm, what with the dogs escaping every 20 minutes and me having to chase them down the road so they don’t go kill my neighbor’s toy-whatever-dog.

I need arch support, I need comfort, but most of all I need the shoes to speak.  “I am the cutest brown shoe you’ve ever seen” is what they should say.  So when I wear them my friends will exclaim “Oh what cute shoes!” and not notice my weight gain or bad hair day.  Men have no idea how important shoes are.

For 2 years I’ve managed to live life without brown shoes.  But the agony is starting to get to me.  Every outfit I put together these days seems to require them.  And while they may fit the comfort bill, I refuse to wear the old Clarks mules.  No ma’am.  I need to move on.

We’ve got family coming in for the weekend, so the shoe hunt will have to wait.

I’m concentrating on waking up enough to entertain.

Have a great weekend!   {YAWN}

  1. I have some very cute winter flats in brown, actually I have the same style in red and black too!! But I have been looking for a nice pair of brown dress shoes for summer something with a slight heel ( I don’t do high) so it looks a little dressy for Church etc. I have been looking for 3 years. My problem is they I can’t find any in brown – it’s not “THE” colour these days so they don’t make them or if they do they are a really chunky shoe that just looks ridiculous on me. Good luck with the shoe hunt I know how frustrating it can be!

    I have to share with you my latest shoe find. I too have been in the market for a comfy brown shoe that can take a lot of “being on my feet ” time at work. I found them at Kohl’s and wore them immediately on a vacation and they were fabulous…looked great, felt great, even a compliment from the girl cousins.

    I went back this week and got the black version since I will be working at Bath and Body Works as well as substitute teaching until I get the library job I am waiting to open up.

    Let me know what you think.
    Love, Laura

  3. You have once again cracked me up. Poor girl with no brown shoes. Maybe if you wore the spiked heels the dogs would fear you more and not run away, just a theory I am working on so I can conitue to wear mine. But I will tell you if you are looking for comfort Born is the best they have a cheaper line that is just as good called BOC (Born Concepts) they are just as comfy. They tend to be cuter that the clark mule and have better ache support, I love them and wear them often, the high heeled ones. Glad you got a well needed break.

  4. Oh yes Cha Cha! I adore Born. That’s pretty much all I wear. But they don’t have a brown shoe that is turning me on lately. Maybe it’s me. Maybe I’m being too picky. I haven’t heard of BOC. I’m gonna have to check that out! Thanks, Lisa~

  5. Lisa, I like my shoes and purses to speak also. I especially like it when they are so divinely distracting that my weight gain and bad hair day is not noticed either. Cute shoes and cute purses can cover a multitude of fashion/health faux paxs.
