Summer Decor on the Cheap

We have an eating area in front of the house.  We’re the country…we can eat in the front yard out here.

But it’s blah.  We love to sit out there and usually a nice breeze is blowing in that spot, but it needs some decor.  Some pizazz.  Oh, and apparently a broom.

I found some stuff on clearance at Target and I thought, “Hmmm…..I wonder what I could do with those.”  The bowls were $2.79 and the plates were $.68.  How could I pass that up?!

I didn’t care for the yellow, but if there’s one thing I have learned from reading home decor blogs, it’s that anything can be spray painted.

I dug through my stuff and found some things left over from other projects.  Surely I can make something for my front tables that will be patriotic.

I needed something to fill the bowls, hold them down and anchor the flags.  Something free.  Look around….hey!  I know just the thing!

These bowls are huge.  It’s going to take me forever to fill them.

Can someone help me?!

Thanks guys! (my homage to “Toy Story 3”)

Then I spent an hour making a whole bunch of these.

I added rick rack to the edge because, as everyone knows, rick rack makes everything better.  Then I made some stars with my Cricut.

Tada!

Ain’t it cute?  All ready to sit there and cheer me up for the rest of the summer.

The view from the other side…..the bunting on the porch always makes me feel cozy.

And now my super cheap patriotic bowls add to my pleasure.

Have a great Fourth of July!

You are loved.
