Clothing Frustrations

I don’t know why clothing manufacturers don’t make clothes for boys in the size 14-16 range.

I’ve spent the past 2 weeks looking for pajamas for Noah and Adam. No one has anything…Target, Walmart, the department stores, not even Land’s End. The boys aren’t comfortable in sweat pants in the hot weather, so I guess I will have to make them myself. Bummer. Making pajamas is low on my list, but they need them. I keep wondering, what would I do if I couldn’t sew?

I remember going through this with my girls. When they were in these sizes the clothes were so trendy that it was almost impossible to find anything sweet and modest. I was so glad when they made it into the normal misses sizes.

The boys and I shopped for t-shirts last week and it was hard to find any without skull and crossbones. Does EVERYONE want to wear skull and crossbones on their clothes? Or sports? Can’t we just wear clothes with no words or pictures? Apparently not.

The way my life goes, I’ll spend another week scouring the city for pajamas, give up and find them at Costco as an afterthought.

Oh well. At least the kids grow so eventually they will be out of this hard to find size. It’s a double edged sword, right? It’s nice to be able to find clothes for them, but then they’re all big and tall and closer to leaving home. Oh dear, now I’ve gotten myself all sad.

I think I’ll go make myself feel better by sewing up some footie pajamas for Jacob that have cowboys on them.

He’ll love that!

(don’t forget to come to his graduation and movie screening next month!)

  1. I TOTALLY hear you on this one. I have been looking for some summer clothes for my 6 year old and have found it’s really challenging. Please let us know if you find some good stuff!

  2. try finding clothes for a girl who is 10 years old but wears a size 6X-slim and doesn’t want to look like a toddler…and by the way, since I feel totally free to complain…try finding MODEST shorts in Tucson Arizona. These shorts do not cover anything. I’m sick of seeing cheeks hanging out—Even last week in CHURCH…good Lord where is that girl’s Momma? Yes, it’s HOT here in the desert, but why do people feel free to just let things hang out.
aybe they want to show off their tatoos…but folks, I am trying to teach my daughter some modesty here. And just what is it with this whole skull thing??? Just because they bling it up, it’s supposed to be cute? Ok I feel better, but it still does not solve our problem does it?

  3. My boys usually sleep in their comy basketball type shorts in the summer. Or I have found some thinner pj bottoms at Target that work fine with a t-shirt. Finding things without lots of awful pics is certainly a challenge. I usually buy the plain colored shirts at Target. Do you see a trend here with me and Target? My oldest is stuck in between boys and mens jeans…16’s are too short and men’s aren’t cut to fit a young, growing boy. That’s one great thing about hsing though – they don’t care what they wear! My biggest problem is getting them to change their shirt every few DAYS! :o)

If I lived closer, I’d certainly help you rearange your furniture! Have fun with it!
