A Very Jaws Christmas

I’m still basking in the glow of a wonderful Christmas with my family.  This morning is one of those times, like when you go to camp and come home to the stark reality that life isn’t all about sitting around the fire singing Kumbayah.  There’s work to be done.  Christmas is over people.

Today we will be putting away all of the Christmas decorations, leaving only the lights on the front porch, which will come down next Sunday.  If I hadn’t been so wrapped up in the new computer game Faith got for Christmas I would have started taking ornaments off of the tree last night.

I should never start these games.  I ignore everything around me while I’m playing and I HAVE to finish.  (I’m a little obsessive)

Speaking of obsessive….I gave James a floating shark for Christmas (don’t ask me why he wanted it, these things don’t have to make sense) and he won’t stop “driving” it all around the house this morning.  I didn’t really give this giant shark enough thought.  Where are you supposed to keep a 5′ long, 3′ high floating shark?

It doesn’t exactly go with my decor, even though James has been doing his best to convince me it works with a beach theme and if I get out the summer decorations the shark will fit right in.  All the while I am trying to explain how impressed his clients will be when they see it floating around in his office.

Marriage is about give and take.  I gave him the shark and he takes it out of my house.

Speaking of marriage (witness the mastery of my segue), the rest of this week will be all about the wedding of my friend Pennie’s son, Daniel. He’s getting married on Saturday and I am in charge of decorating the foyer and sanctuary.  I’ll be spending tomorrow through Friday working on transforming their church into wedding spectacular.

My mind is swimming with thoughts of tulle and flowers and….wait a minute…stop the presses!

Don’t you think that a great white shark would look nice hovering over the nuptials?

Have a great week!

  1. That is funny! I’m sure you will do a fabulous job on the foyer and sanctuary!! But I REALLY don’t think that they are going to want the shark…. lol! ;D

  2. That shark is HILARIOUS!!! Especially hovering around the kitchen. Looking for some chum. You don’t keep chum in your kitchen, do you? I’m sure you’ll have a great time decorating and all this week!! Can’t wait to see pix.

  3. Lisa,

We are playing Nancy Drew Alibi in Ashes here at our cottage! Those of us who play these do get obsessive about them too! We keep notes and use the online message boards etc…

The shark is fun but I’m with you – out it goes! It will be more fun in his office for sure! 🙂

Sounds like you were all healthy for Christmas? Hope so!

    Deanna
