Getting Ready for the Festival

It’s the week of the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival.  We’ve been looking forward to this for over a year.

It may not be going the way I expected, but still….we’re excited.

Grace and Jacob are spending the week at the Film Academy.  James is gone for his big law exam.  It’s just me, the younger kids, my injured knee, the farm and two dogs that keep getting out of their dog pen.

I know it sounds like a dream; don’t be jealous.  It’s not as much fun as you may think.

It’s times like these that I’m so glad my kids are cheerful and obedient.  That makes the hard days so much easier to navigate.

I do want to show you the great stuff we’ve been putting together to promote Jacob’s movie.

We’ve packed up 200 little octopi to hand out to the kids at the festival.

They are tagged with the time and place of the movie.

We made pins to wear and a few extra for any friend that wants to wear one.

Elijah wanted to show you how they look.

And t-shirts for our three little boys to wear.

It’s all “Tentacle Reef” all the time at our house.

There is so much joy in being a part of a family that pulls together to support one member.  No one minds that it’s all for Jacob.  We are excited to be making a contribution to his life and his future.  If it means pulling extra hours in the kitchen or spending free time making pins, we’re all in it 100%.

My hope now is not to have to use these dumb crutches at the festival.  How am I going to chase people down and beg them to go see Jacob’s movie if I can’t run?

  1. how wonderful & exciting for everyone! so so sweet!

please take care of yourself, lisa! be safe & careful. don’t be scared to ask for help – either! i am sure you have a ton of friends that would help you in a heart beat.

can’t wait to hear how it goes!

  2. Where did you get the little octopi made? That is a very clever way to advertise his movie and encourage people to see it!

Have fun, and take care of yourself!

  3. I love it all, but mostly I love your family and the heart for God they have. What a true blessing to have children who support one another, each time they do this you know they are calling you blessed. Oneof our family goals is to always work well at what ever job needs to be done and to put others needs before our desires. Your family seems to do this very well, I am impressed.

I do hope you are staying off that knee and giving it a chance to heal. You have to let it heal so that you don’t have long term problems, okay I will stop being a mother hen now.

    Have a great day,
    Cha Cha

  4. How exciting. We have friends that are going to that. I so wish I could be there. Please take lots of pictures so I can live it through you. Should I be looking for Tentacle Reef at the Theaters soon?
    Have a GREAT day.

  5. All your items are too cute! I think it is wonderful to see families supporting and loving on each other. You are an encouragement to this mom!

  6. ooo! I would love to see you taking shots at people who dared to walk past where his movie was playing and not go in! You could just holler “Octopi” and they would be forced to slip into the theater to avoid being hit by one!
The thought of it just brightens my day!

  7. Best wishes at the festival! Looking forward to hearing how it goes and also to seeing Tentacle Reef in its entirety some day. God bless!

  8. Very cool story, as usual. I love the little Octopi! And what a great benefit for young people—to learn what works in marketing and how to promote what they’re good at. We’ve already discussed making business/economics/finance/marketing a part of our homeschooling curriculum when the boys are older… hoping that our boys will find a small business they can run when they are teenagers to learn how the world works.

  9. Hello Lisa,
Just checking in to say hello & see how your knee was doing?
    Pray all is well!
Hope the weekend is going great!
    Blessings~
