We Reached our Goal!

We did it!  The first phase of the deck is done.

I didn’t think we could finish with James gone and so much happening this week.  But the kids and I got out there and knocked it out.

It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.  In my mind, the deck would be done last weekend and the rest of my week would be spent like this….

But in reality, it looked more like this….

But I’m all better now that we finished phase 1.  I can’t wait to show it to you….

Look ma….shade!….

Of course, there is still a LOT to do before it is completely finished.  But we’re not going to think about that.  No we’re not.  I just want a day to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Oh, and I am sure that tomorrow will look more like…..

Doesn’t Jacob look happy to be shading me with his umbrella?   He’s such a good boy.

  1. Yes Grateful, he has definitely found his calling. I think we’ll name him, “Cheerful Shade Boy.” LOL! Lisa~

  2. I am James McDermott. My wife Cindy and I have been blessed by God with 13 children. We also homeschool and above all, we are Christians. We recently started a website called Christian family meeting place (www.christianfamilymeetingplace.com). Many who hold our views are isolated and are looking for online fellowship, personal fellowship, churches, and even spouses. I am inviting you to register. It is free. If you’re not interested, that is perfectly fine. May God bless you in all you do for Him. – In the Vine, Jim for Cindy and the rest
P.S. We also publish SALT Magazine. If you would like to check us out go to http://www.saltmagazine.com

  3. I love the photo where you’re all pooped out! Too funny! Enjoy your accomplishment and don’t worry about the rest of it. Better to cross that bridge when you get to it.

  4. Ah I just realized I read an atricle you wrote in the THSC review. I was so touched by your teching style.I thought to myself, I have to know this family. So glad to find you and your blog.We recently moved from Dripping Springs, to the Fort Worth area(job). We really miss the laid back style (and trees)of hill country.I pray the Lord will lead us back someday.

  5. That is unbelievable!!! Of course that’s because everything you do is unbelieveable! It looks fantastic!

  6. Oh, what a beautiful deck! I am so jealous:). Love the picture of your son with the umbrella…the look on his face is precious! The cookie boy just made me laugh. You have darling kids!!

  7. Ha! This is hilarious. How did you get your kids to pose for you like that? My kids would just throw stuff and run around like hooligans. Maybe the face that they’re all under the age of 4 would attest to that, but still…great job on your deck! Enjoy it while you can! (i.s. Before winter..yikes!)

  8. I don’t know what’s better your writing or the fact you actually got your kids to pose for that photo!! The deck is AMAZING, I’m in awe that y’all were able to do something so wonderful together as a family. I’m so thankful that because of your wonderful contest I’ve had the pleasure of peeking into your life a bit 🙂 You are truly an inspiration!
