An Oily Day in the Life

If you’ve been here long then you know I love me some Young Living oils. They are a part of my daily life in ways I never even dreamed of 5 years ago. It’s just normal to me now like making my bed and brushing my teeth. What started as a way to naturally manage simple illnesses has become support for the whole body, emotionally and spiritually in addition to physically.

Being a person who hits the ground running every day, it’s hard for me to remember to take care of myself. I have to be intentional and also have my oils and supplements in sight and easy reach. Seeing my oils when I walk through the bathroom helps me remember to stop and apply. Having the diffuser right by the door I go through to walk the dog in the morning with water and oils sitting there ready make it easy to use it!

I thought it would be fun to walk through my day with you and share what I do to support myself and make my day go great.

  1. Morning. As soon as I wake up I make my bed and go potty. When I’m washing my hands I am standing right next to a little shelf of oils I can put on right then and there. I use Endoflex, Valor and Abundance. Those are my every morning oils.

I will spend about 20 minutes reading some Bible verses and praying. I love to put on some uplifting oils for that, like Northern Lights Black Spruce and Magnify Your Purpose. Then I head to the front of the house and start some laundry. I always put a few drops of oil, Purification or lavender (or both!) on my wool dryer balls in every dryer load. Then I make myself a big cup of water and add Lemon Vitality to help me wake up. I almost always have a couple of drops of an oil in my water.

  1. School time. After breakfast as the kids do the dishes and prep for school I sneak back my bathroom to brush my teeth (with Thieves toothpaste of course) and take my supplements. Every day I take Super C, Super B, Agilease, Endogize and Thyromin. Then I head back to the front of the house to start school. I put some oils in the diffuser where we have school. It differs every day, but I almost always have a citrus oil mixed with something else. Maybe orange + pine or rosemary + lime. I drink some NingXia Red with a couple of drops of Frankincense Vitality in it to wake up my brain and support my body.

  1. Afternoon. By this time I’m pooped both mentally and physically. I’ve usually squeezed in some small projects between school lessons and cleaning. I’ll need a boost so I’ll take a couple of Multigreens and if I’m particularly worn out I will grab a NingXia Nitro. My husband likes Nitros cold, but I’m happy with it any way I can get it so if there’s not one in the fridge I don’t care if it’s warm….I slurp it down. Every time I go in my bathroom throughout the day I will stop for a minute and put on some oils. This time of day I will reach for different things depending on what’s happening in my life. I might use EnRGee if I’ve got a busy afternoon or peppermint + Joy for an emotional boost.

One oil blend I’ve really been using a lot of lately is called Humility. This is an area of my life I’m working on, or I should say God is working on, and the oils in this blend really help to calm the parts of my thoughts that stop me from being humble. I love using the plants God gave us to support my emotional and spiritual goals. Sometimes we have a block or are hanging onto junk and these plants can be a part of our healing journey.

  1. Evening. After dinner together and clean up and whatever we needed to do to close out the day, I am ready for some relaxation. I keep a diffuser in my bedroom and this is the time I put lavender + vetiver + valerian + orange in there and let the quiet wash over me. We all need a few quiet moments every day to wind down! I will wash my face with the amazing ART skin care system (I seriously need to just do a whole other post on those) and roll some Tranquil on my forehead and my wrists. I put some Rose Ointment on my heels (I got heel issues). Then I’m ready for bed.

Of course there are many, many other YL products I use. For dishes and soaps and cleaning and makeup  and all kinds of unexpected things that pop up throughout the day. Or when I feel that ugly attitude pushing up in me…..a hundred times a day I reach for an oil. My husband loves them, my kids love them, my youngest asks at least twice a day for an oil for one thing or another. I’m telling you, once you start you just can’t stop.

My best tip is to keep them where you see them. If they’re out of sight you won’t use them. I have about a dozen on a little wall rack in my bathroom, my whole collection is on sliding drawers in my bedroom and I made a wall rack for my kitchen. I often stop at that kitchen rack and just pick up a bottle and use a drop from it…just rub a drop on my wrists, take a second to pray and keep moving. The kids are welcome to use these too…they love them!

If you haven’t tried them I want to encourage you to just do it! Don’t worry about what anyone will think. You don’t have to explain your oil passion to anyone! I’ve been teased and criticized for how much I like my oils and I don’t care one bit. That’s about the people doing the criticizing, not about me.  They can have their issues while I’m over here relaxing with some StressAway in the diffuser.

Let’s get you some oils and help you find way to add them into your daily life! You will love the 11 oils in the starter kit and I’ll send you some tips for how to use them.  It really is refreshing!
