Embracing Modesty, No. 48
Ok so I may be going a little overboard on the tights. I can’t help it. I love them so.
Plus I found a couple of great skirts to wear them with, so that’s fun.
Some of the kids and I did a little local Black Friday shopping and I finally got some clothes that fit me. I am so shocked that I actually fit into clothes in the regular sections now. It’s at the back of the rack (as in XL for those of you that have never had to dig to the back of a rack before), but still. No more plus-sized stores. I can’t believe it. I haven’t been able to do that since….well I don’t even remember doing that.
Here’s a black sweater I got on sale at JCPenney put together with tights and a teal skirt I got at Target. My daughter Faith made me the necklace several years ago. (sorry it’s blurry….one of my younger kids took the picture)
This is another pair of tights…red. Oh yes I did.
The silver top is from Target and the red tank is from Old Navy. I stitched up the tank in the shoulder about 2″ so it wouldn’t be so low. The skirt is old and I took it in to fit me. All of the accessories are old. Thankfully, accessories still fit even when you lose weight.
Speaking of accessories….you’ve got to have a cute purse to go with your outfit!
This last look is from yesterday and does not involve tights, although if I had some pink ones I might have….
The only new piece here is the striped t-shirt. I got it for $4 at the JCPenney sale…score! I had the pink vest for a long time, maybe before I had kids….seriously. The gray skirt was from Cato a couple of years ago and I took it in to fit. I love the little bird necklace. I don’t remember where I got that, sorry!
While we were out taking this picture a cold front came through. I’m not kidding….I think the temps dropped 10° in 5 minutes. So I put on a sweater and decide to take another picture for you.

You look FANTASTIC! The red tights outfit is my favorite! 🙂
You and your clothes look amazing! Congrats on the success of your weight loss journey 🙂 I love your morning walk pictures!
You are such an inspiration! You make me feel like I could really do this! So happy for you.
You’re adorable! So proud of you! The last pic is my favorite outfit.
You look fantastic! A helpful hint for too low tanks is to wear them backwards!
Lisa – you look amazing! I am so inspired by your tenacity and determination. I love seeing all of your encouraging posts about your journey. Keep it up!
You look beautiful Lisa!
Pretty in Pink! And gray! You look great Lisa!
You are glowing
Glad you decided to treat yourself to some new things. Us mom’s need to remember that it is important to see ourselves in a positive light and that we are ‘worth it’. You are demonstrating so many important lessons to your children. I am so happy for you!
Lookin’ good! Isn’t it fun to get new clothes? Glad you are doing so well and kudos to you for walking in the cold today. We are iced in here in Dallas. 🙂
You look great!!! 🙂
Lisa, you look wonderful! You have a terrific talent for putting outfits together. Whenever I see your posts I’m inspired to “shop my closet” and create new looks from the clothes I already have. Thanks for inspiring your readers to use the things that they are already blessed with.
The last outfit is my fave. Love the ruffle sweater.
Mary
Love. It. All. ((and you look awesome))
You look gorgeous! So inspiring, Lisa.
Cute, cute, cute. I am so proud of you and your weight loss. You were always beautiful, but you are absolutely radiant now. I love that last look…I have a weakness for striped tops.
You look beautiful!!! The pink & gray WITH the sweater is my fave. Totally my style. 🙂
Congratulations! The red tights are a little too bright for my personal taste, but I’m glad you’re having fun with them! Love that teal!
Love your red tights Lisa, they are so me..but I can’t wear them in the Caribbean,so I’m glad you can. Love your blog and your commitment to weight loss…
You are such an inspiration. I love to follow these posts, I feel encouraged to continue working toward weight loss, and am reminded, that I don’t need to hide in sweats and oversized clothing, that I can look beautiful now too. Thank-you!
Ack! You look so awesome! Seriously stunning and like 15 years younger looking! Great job! Just wait a few months and these new awesome clothes will be getting loose. Like you I held off for a long time on buying “new” clothes (I thrifted mine) and I was so excited to be out of plus sizes too. I’m now at the stage where I’m noticing that those clothes are getting kind of baggy! I’m rooting you on girl and can’t wait to see where you are by spring. 😀
You look great! The pink and gray outfit is my favorite, but I love the pop of red with the tights and tank, too! I’m excited for you that you get to shop in smaller sizes.
Congrats on the losses!!! Love outfit number two as it draws the eye down and is slimming! I also think the last ruffled sweater is slimming, too. Be cautious cutting of with color blocks at your waistline; adding a pop of color with a draping scarf can be quite slimming, too. You want to accentuate your loss and capitalize on it! Have you tried some gray tights; that might be a good choice, too. 🙂
It’s so lovely to see a mother embracing modesty. My own mom was definitely the one that inspired me and pushed me to dress in a way to honor the men in my life, and most importantly, the Lord. You are doing an amazing thing for your daughters, and I’m so happy to have found your blog. 🙂
Holy Crapola!!! You look AMAZING!! I have been reading for a while, but have never commented, but I just had to let you know that you are doing a fabulous job! I can’t remember now if your initial goal was weight loss or just to take better care of your body. Whatever it is ,it’s working!! I know from personal experience that just by eating healthy and in moderation as well as exercising that there are so many other side effects ie, feeling less tired, more exergy (different than less tired), more calm etc, etc, and of course loosing weight, which give you more energy…its just a continual loop now. Enjoy your success and here’s to more continued success.
