Embracing Modesty, No 31

When I started this series it was just a spur of the moment idea.  Since the girls and I dress up every day and we only wear skirts/dresses, I thought that would be something fun for us to share with you.  I can’t believe y’all haven’t gotten sick of seeing what we are wearing.  Or maybe you have….uh oh!

This week I’ve been back to normal life.  It’s just errands or lunch in town.  This heat is affecting what I choose to wear.  Yesterday it was 104° and if I was wearing anything but lightweight cotton I would have sweated more than I like to….which is none.

On Tuesday I went to have lunch with my mom.  We piddled around shopping and then ate in a cute little restaurant.  It was just a quiet girl day.  Since I had to be out of the house by 9AM and I had my morning walk plus I had to get the kids settled with their schoolwork, I only had about 3.9 minutes to get ready.  That’s why I have flathair.  That’s the best I can do with such limited time.  And to be honest, I wasn’t totally thrilled with my little blue “jacket”.  It’s starting to hang too loose and doesn’t look good on me anymore.

On Thursday I ran around doing errands.  I had to pick up a bunch of supplies for the shop and hit the grocery store and a few other places.

I must have been in a black and white mood that day.

You like that pose?  That’s one my kids see a lot.  It says, “OK fine….you don’t have to do what I say, but just watch what happens if you don’t.”

Of course, what I wear is also about the purse.  I change my purse all of the time.

I got those black wedges on sale last week.  They are Clarks and very comfortable.

That’s all I’ve got for you today.  Just me having simple days.  Thanks for stopping by!

Be sure to check out our Embracing Modesty Gallery to catch up on the whole series!

  1. LOVE your Thursday outfit! Super cute skirt! You make wearing skirts so fashionable and unhomeschoolish….is that a word? It is now! 🙂 Hugs!

  2. You have a healthy glow in your face, and you can really see the progress you are making. I guess if you can get up and walk in 104 degree heat, I could drag myself out to walk in 95 degree! I dread it though.
Will your children continue with their schoolwork when you are out of the house? We have a problem with that here!
Your hair in the photo with the blue jacket – I really like it! It looks like you straightened it with a flat iron. Cute!
    (Arent Clark’s awesome?!)

    1. Hi Valerie! I’ll be cheering you on to get up and walk. It’s made a huge
difference in my day. I know you can do it.

And yes, my kids will do the work while I’m gone. They know what happens if
they don’t (a LOT more work and misery…LOL!).

You like my flathair? It was just a blow dry, very quick. No flat iron.
If you think it looks OK I may wear it like that more often since it was so
      easy!

      Have a great day, Lisa~

  3. I love the skirt and shirt that you wore on Thursday. I need to find something like that. You look great in the “unhomeschoolish” outfit.

    1. Hi Wanda! I can not for the life of me remember where I got that skirt. But they’re pretty easy to find. I like that term, “unhomeschoolish”. It is perfect. 🙂 Lisa~

  4. Guess that it’s a good thing that the blue jacket is getting a little loose – congratulations! And I actually think the flat hair looks really nice.

    1. Jacqueline, you’re so right! My clothes getting loose will be a good problem to have. Thanks for the comment on my flat hair. I may wear it that way more often. Have a great weekend! Lisa~

  5. Thursday’s outfit is just beautiful , Mrs. Pennington, and your hair is lovely. I never get sick of these posts. I only hope they don’t end – that will be a sad day!

    1. Thanks Rebecca! I’m so glad you like the modesty series. We’ll have to think of something else to do next year since by then you will have seen all of our clothes. 🙂 Love, Mrs. Pennington!

  6. loved the diagonal striped skirt; where did you get it? I can tell you are losing weight, Lisa! Way to go!

    1. Aw, thanks Susan! I was just thinking of you the other day and wondering ow the plans for your precious group is going for next year. I pray for you all! Lisa~

  7. I never get tired of these posts. They are so encouraging! You always look so put together. Congrats on the weight loss, but I always thought you looked great anyway!

    1. Thanks Donna….you always encourage me! I appreciate your support so much. 🙂 Lisa~

  8. I always check in and never comment but I loved Thursday’s outfit so much I had to stop and say so. So cute. I love it. I love the series and all the ideas I grab from you. Thanks!

  9. I love the red bag and the second outfit! I change pocketbooks almost daily too. And I’m kind of ashamed to admit that I have enough for many days!

  10. I really enjoy these series of posts…so don’t stop!! In the black/white outfit you have on a tank/white/ruffly, do you remember where you got it?? Love it, looks very flattering. All your clothes look so comfortable and you look wonderful pfoofy hair or not. Congrats on all your hard work and the weight loss…good for you.

  11. Really liked both outfits. The red purse would also look great with the striped skirt outfit. I wish I changed purses more, it seems like to much trouble to me since, as my husband says, mine is like a filing cabinet.
