Will You Take the Challenge With Me?

I’ve been thinking for a while about how much I need to get into better shape. I think about it a lot actually.  Don’t do much about it, but that’s going to change.

My friend Brandy wrote an ebook, “42 Days to Fit“, and I knew it was a sign that the time had come.  OK, it probably came a few years ago, but I prefer to stay in denial as long as possible.  I got the book and have been reading through it, preparing myself to get off my behind and make some real, not faddish, but honest to goodness changes.  The book makes me feel like I can do this.

When I saw that “42 Days to Fit” is on sale for 99¢ today only I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to tell you about it.

I’m going to start the challenge this Thursday, May 2.  I need to go through the book a little more and pick up some food at the store and then I will be ready.  I think.  If not, I’m jumping in anyway.  And I will be keeping myself accountable through updates on Facebook and Instagram.

What do you think?  Want to do the challenge with me?  It’s only 6 weeks, which takes us into the beginning of June.  It’s a great time to start!

Get the book for 99¢ and join me for 6 weeks of changing our habits and improving our lives.

  1. You know, Thursdays have always been good days for me to start any kind of project. Don’t know why such an odd day of the week, but …. yeah. I’m in. What do I need to do?

    1. Woohoo Celia! With you in it with us we have our cheerleader. I’m excited to do it together! Lisa~

  3. I’m so excited for everyone! I commit to praying for each of you every time I run, okay? Y’all have got this!!! 🙂

    1. Oh Brandy that would be awesome! I am praying too. We can’t go wrong with that as our foundation. Lisa~

  4. I am in!!! I am down 40lbs as of yesterday and have about 40 left to get me to the high end of healthy weight based on my height. Lisa, I was exactly where you are now not that long ago. I am in my late 40’s and all of a sudden my body was telling me that I was going down a bad road. My blood pressure had been edging up for about 1 1/2 years and I still did nothing. The perimenopause is killing me………I started having adrenaline rushes daily and my blood pressure finally went to 180/110. I am now on medication, and my goal is to get off it and reclaim my health. Let’s do it!!!

    1. Karen, that is so inspiring! I don’t have the blood pressure problems, but I can relate with the rest of your journey! Thanks for joining us! I’m excited to get to know you. Lisa~

  6. Good for you Lisa! I hope this really helps your feet issues and that you get some pain relief and increased energy. I’d join you but I’m already doing this liver cleanse thing – I’m on day 24 of 56 (8 weeks) and I am beginning to feel so much better. The cleanse is strict – no grains, no sugar, no dairy (except unsweetened kefir) and no red blooded meat. I won’t lie – it has not been easy, but with lots of prayer and determination I am doing it! It is less painful than a transplant, so if I can keep my poor old liver going for a bit longer by following the cleanse, I will be happy.

I eat lots of veggies and some fruit, wild caught fish and seafood and raw seeds. I’ve been making smoothies with ice, kefir, frozen fruit, ground flax seed and lots of spinach – I can’t say I love them, but hey – they give me energy. My daughter is spurring me on to exercise every day too, so a mix of fast walking, cardio and lots of stretching has me feeling more fit already! I am too heavy to start on a running program but I can walk – and faster and further all the time!

I’ve been cooking normally for the family all along but over the weekend I had my biggest test – I made breakfast for our Sunday School class (40 hungry adults) and baked for about 5 hours without tasting a thing. I felt so insecure sending ‘untried’ food to a public gathering, but everyone said it was good, so it worked out. The leftovers came home and I immediately made up platters for friends and neighbours so that I wouldn’t have the temptation in the house – I left just enough for the family to have a treat. I love danishes, mini quiches, sweet breads and coffee cakes, so it was really hard.

    1. Heather, you can be with us in spirit. I’m so proud of your success with the cleanse. Way to go!!! It sounds like you’re facing it head on and doing well. I’m cheering you on. Even though you’re doing a different diet, I’m thinking of you as doing it with us. Lisa~

      1. Well, thank you for including me! I sure do need the support! The focus of this cleanse is not weight loss – in fact quick weight loss is super dangerous for me – but getting healthier, having more energy and not waking up yellow (with pretty purple palms) are the goals. I have lost a few pounds, but what I am really excited about is that my hands are not as swollen or purple, my feet are normal, my face looks less puffy and my eyes are clear! Yeah!

  7. Ok, I’m in it with you! At 46 I really need to lose about 70 pounds. I will keep watching your posts and your progress. We can do this with smart, healthy eating.

    1. Kim, I’m right there with you! Yes, together we can do it! I’m so glad you’re going to do it too. Lisa~

  8. Lisa, I was so touched by you at SNAP! that if you said it was time to march to the ends of the earth, I might just follow! So, I bought the ebook… no guarantees, but I’d like to at least give it a better look! Thanks again- you are inspiring!

    1. Sky, you’re such a sweetheart! I loved meeting you at SNAP! I hope you’ll do it with us. It looks like it’s done in small chunks and we can get fit together. 🙂 Lisa~

  9. I’m in! I tried on some Bermuda shorts that fit me last year & sigh… they don’t now. I need to do something!

    1. Misti, oh no! We’ve got to help you back into those Bermuda shorts! LOL! I’m so glad you’ll be joining me! Lisa~

  10. I guess I ate my last brownie for awhile tonight:) saw your post on Instagram and got a copy of the book! Looking forward to it!!

    1. Stephanie, I ate my last dessert tonight too. That’s the first thing to go in week one. But I know in my heart I’ve eaten enough dessert to last a lifetime. I’m glad we have each other for support. Lisa~

  11. I will be your cheer leader! I am on my own journey of a lifetime. I have a huge race next Saturday, that I am buckling down to triathlon training. So, while our 42 days may look a bit different, we each our on our own journey, and that is great.
You will do wonderful! Take it one day at a time, and rejoice in both small and big victories!

  12. Hi Lisa, I was directed to your site by Brandy’s post on her 42 Days to Fit. I also just started the challenge on Wednesday. So I look forward to doing this with you too. It’ll be nice to have an online community of women to share the ups and downs! Glad I found you!

  13. Day 1 yesterday wasn’t too bad. I did have a teaspoonful of treacle tart as I had had to bring a pudding to a bring and share dinner and I’d never tried the recipe before so wanted to know if it worked! (It was just a teaspoon, I promise!) Otherwise, if I have wanted to snack, I’ve been snacking on nuts, vegetables or fruit.
