It’s Been an “Off” Week
It’s been an “off” week. I was sick on Wednesday….really sick. I won’t go into details, but it involved trying to be as still as possible to keep my stomach from lurching.
Then Thursday was spent recovery from Wednesday. It’s interesting how much longer it takes for me to recover now than when I was younger. My kids can throw up 20 times then it’s over. They’re ready for some spaghetti and a run outside. Me, I laid there with sore stomach muscles wishing for broth and crackers for 24 hours after I stopped being sick.
We did get some school done despite me having the plague. The kids can do most of their school on their own. So they just roll right along even if Mom’s in quarantine. Oh sure, they don’t work with the same vigor as when I’m sitting there adding fuel to the fire, but it’s OK. It got done.
And, of course, anytime I was feeling well enough to open my eyes I was glued to the news about hurricane Sandy. I’m not usually a “news” kind of girl, but this was different. I felt so, so, SO bad for the people on the east coast. I just kept watching the images and reports from mayors and reporters tell more stories of the devastation. Our family is praying and wishing there was more we could do.
When I was able to sit up I did important things like create a new board on Pinterest. It’s called Cleaning & Organizing. It has some awesome ideas that I will be using as soon as I feel up to it. I knew I should have been grading school papers and reading school books, but my head would spin if I tried to do anything more strenuous than hit “enter” on my keyboard.
Since I missed my weekly run to the city I’ve decided to go today. It will be weird, going on a Friday. I’ve never been on Friday. Are things different? Will there be more traffic? Are Friday shoppers like Wednesday shoppers? Do Friday people have the same sense of humor when someone, say a plus-sized brunette, starts to crack up over losing control of her cart in the parking lot? Or her bladder?
I’ll let you know. It’ll be like a scientific experiment, without any actual science.
What do you have planned for the weekend? Any big adventures or odd experiments happening?
Be sure to follow me on Facebook!
OH Lisa, I am so sorry to hear that you have been ill! Isn’t that the truth about the older we get the longer it takes us to bounce back?! Have fun in the city today!! Its pretty quiet here right now, the quiet before the storm so to speak! 🙂 We are off to Bloomington early tomorrow (2 1/2 hrs) as our youngest will be participating in a competition with the Robotics club. So smile as you think of us! 🙂 We will be the non-techno people in the crowd. ha h! Have a wonderful weekend!
Ugh, we don’t tend to fully appreciate the blessing of health until we get sick.
I LOVED your 31 day series, by the way!
Today was my birthday so I had almond flour cake & yonana ice cream. I actually got the yonana machine for my birthday. The ice cream was yummy:) We went for a family bike ride for most of the day. Finished off with dinner at Chipotle. Their salad bowls are DELISH! This Saturday was especially good to me:)
So sorry you were sick – and with the worst kind of sickness. I hope you continue to strengthen and stay well for a good long while.
Hope your trip to the city was safe and fun.
