The Cold Weather is Worth It
I am writing this from Indianapolis, Indiana. I’ve never been to Indiana. It’s chilly. Which makes me love it already. I’m a cold-lovin,-girl.
Traveling all day yesterday gave me some quiet time to think and pray and prepare myself for the conference this weekend. It was kind of a slow climb. The morning didn’t start as easily as I would have liked. Up at 6 after going to bed at 2. Throw on some clothes, check on the last few things I needed to take with me and go.
I was half an hour from home when I realized I had forgotten my hair straightener. I had used it and was letting it cool off before I packed it. UGH! It’s an absolute necessity. One cannot go 6 days without being able to fix her hair the way she likes….she simply can’t. I decided to find a Sally’s Beauty Supply on my to Dallas (yes, I know, I flew out from Dallas…it’s a long story).
I found a Sally’s north of Austin, stopped and got a straightener and went to the bathroom. In the bathroom I saw in the mirror that I had forgotten to put on my earrings. NOOOOOO!!! A girl can’t have no earrings for 6 days! And this was not something I could just go buy. I don’t have pierced ears. I used to have them, but a cyst developed on one of my earlobes and removing it did some damage that cause me to not be able to wear pierced earrings anymore. I have only found one place to buy clips that don’t hurt. And it wasn’t anywhere nearby.
So I pulled over, opened my trunk and dug through my jewelry case hoping I had tossed an extra pair in for an earring emergency (which this obviously was!). Thankfully, my less favorite earrings were in there. Crisis averted.
Several other items I forgot: My ipad, my external hard drive that has all of my pictures on it for the blog posts I was planning, my eyeliner, my earbuds and my wedding ring.
{sigh}
By the time I arrived in Dallas and managed to make my way through the airport with my purse, suitcase and GIANT suitcase full of products for the influence market, I was drained. Not that anyone should feel sorry for me. Poor little girl that gets to go to a conference all by herself and meet hundreds of amazing women and all without her wedding ring.
My plane was one of the last to arrive last night and the airport was empty. Just me and the guy selling Chinese food from a stand.
I made it to my hotel about 11:00 at night. So I’ll be one tired old lady today.
But at least I have earrings. And straight hair.
And the cold weather.
What a day!!!! Hoping my day doesn’t trump yours and I get to see you SOON.
Uggh! That IS not fun to forget your Ipad and all that stuff! I hope you are able to get other stuff done, regardless 🙂

Hey, I didn’t realize this conference was in Indy – I live here =) So welcome to our cold state. Actually, I think it’s gotten cold unusually early this fall, though I’m sure it’s always at least a little cooler than Texas. Sorry to hear your morning went so badly, but I hope you enjoy your stay =) And btw, the airport is really never busy… It’s new and I think they made it a little bigger than necessary.
You folks simply don’t *know* cold …. Hmmph
Oh my…that’s how I feel without mascara or lipgloss. Must have! Hope your trip is going splendidly.
