31 Everyday Ways to Connect with Your Child, Day 16: 10 Minute Break

Some days are just hard.  Really hard.  Everyone seems out of sorts and no amount of correcting and lecturing is going to change it.  These are the days when you all need to just stop.  And take a 10-minute-break.

In my post “20 Ways to ‘Reset’ When the Kids are Having  Hard Day” there are great ideas for what to do with 10 minutes.  The purpose of this 10 minutes is to stop the spinning of the bad day and turn it around.  Be together, sit down, laugh, talk, do a quick activity, whatever you think your child will respond best to. And be sure to BREATHE.

This lets your child know that you understand he’s having a hard day and needs a reset.  And it also helps him when you admit that you’re having a hard day too.  It’s not just him.

Take 10 minutes in the middle of the day to just stop.  It will do the whole family a world of good!

Don’t forget to register for the free webinar tonight at 7:PM with Smoothing the Way!

We’ll be discussing these ideas in more detail and answering questions.  Can’t wait to meet you there!
