25 Random Uninteresting Things
When I saw that my friend Shaunna was doing a 25 things link party I knew it was just the thing for me! I constantly think of little things I want to tell you but it’s not enough for a blog post. So here goes nothin.
1. I don’t sleep, at least not very well. It’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older which makes me wonder if I will be sleeping at all by 2027. Or will I just be a walking zombie.
2. My girls and I all wear the same size shoe, which you would think would be a dream since we could share shoes, but none of us like the same style, so we never share.
3. I also wear the same size shoe as Noah, which irritates him when I mention it.
4. I (Shop 24) am doing a bridal show in March. It’s the first time I’ve done anything like that so I’m nervous that I won’t show well. We’ll see I guess. What can I do about it but just show up and hope the brides like burlap and rusty wire?
5. My diet is going horribly. I wish I could give you a better report, but I have been a dismal failure in that area.
6. I’m not giving up on the diet, just feeling discouraged.
7. I love listening to audio books. I am always looking for a new one.
8. I only listen to them when I am in the car alone, so it takes me a long time to get through a book.
9. I really, really like dolphins. I don’t know why, they mesmerize me.
10. Some day I want to swim with one.
11. In Hawaii.
12. After I get skinny.
13. When I get bored I play Free Cell on the computer. I sometimes play for an hour before I realize it.
14. Saturday is Noah’s 13th birthday and I have no idea what to get him. It’s a hard age.
15. When I was 13 my grandmother died. That’s pretty much all I remember about being 13.
16. I’m left-handed.
17. I am terrible at crossword puzzles. I can barely think of words that I use everyday, the chance of my thinking of a word I seldom use is slim.
18. Last year a couple of dear, dear people made the choice not to be in my life anymore. It was really difficult and hurtful. I tell you this not to have you feel sorry for me but to tell you that if you are going through it too then you are not the only one.
19. I’m going to be OK despite the losses. Some people just aren’t going to like you. But there is One that likes me no matter what and He will never reject me.
20. And now I want to cheer up this list before it ends.
21. Let’s talk about dolphins some more, they seem so cheerful.
22. I won’t eat brussel sprouts. I don’t care if I was at the White House and the chef made them just for me, I wouldn’t eat them. They are gross.
23. It is highly unlikely that I would be invited to the White House anyway. The Obamas would probably not appreciate my perspective on, well, anything.
24. My foot still hurts from when I fell at the movies a few weeks ago.
25. You all brighten my day every day. Thanks.

Amen on the Brussels Sprouts. Blech! And the way they make the house smell when my mother cooks them… double blech!
This made me feel somehow…closer to you 😉 I DO know about the losing a friend situation (sniff sniff), do NOT eat the Brussells either, and if you ever get invited to the Obama’s- invite me- we can keep each other company!
You make me smile 🙂 Love your list…

I know about the friends thing too …. I guess most of us do, but it still hurts at the time 🙁
Sprouts? Well, we grow our own – *maybe* that makes them taste better, but on the other hand, er, maybe not. I par-boil them, quarter them and stiff fry them with bacon in butter. That makes them at least edible 🙂
Oh, we’ve been to the White House. For some reason, Pres Bush had double booked and was with the Ghana President. We saw around the White House, but he sent his sincere apologies to us, wishing it could have been different ….. 😉
(We were in the White House… that part is true!)
I’ve never tried brussel sprouts in my 31 years of life! I am curious though! I may try them if the opportunity presents itself! I also know about losing friends, and yes, it does hurt, really bad! Just know you aren’t alone! I loved reading your list…visiting from Perfectly Imperfect! I follow you on twitter, but must admit I haven’t been to your blog much. I am going to add you to my reader so that I can keep up a little better!
Awwww, what a great list. I WISH Obama would listen to your perspective ON EVERYTHING!! 🙂 I really need EXTRA-LARGE-CAPS for some words. Normal ones just don’t quite do it.
I’m sure the bridal show will be a HUGE success! What’s not to love about burlap and rusted wire? It goes with everything!!!
Have a wonderful Thursday. And Friday. And Saturday. 🙂
I am un-lurking. I have been reading your blog for a few weeks. I followed a link from Pinterest here and subscribed because I liked what I read. This has been my favorite post so far. It is amazing how much you can get to know someone by the little things. Thanks for this, I now feel like we are friends. Sorry that I don’t have a blog (yet) so our new friendship is super-one-sided! Have a great and blessed day!
lol. perfect. so, when are we going to hawaii again?
I can relate to several things on your list. I too am left-handed, I don’t sleep well (try melatonin it helps), I probably won’t be invited to the white house either ( I am really ok with that. They wouldn’t like my perspectives on things also), and my diet isn’t going well either (too many birthdays – ughhhhh). Like you said, we have the Lord and that is enough! Thanks for sharing!
I’m with ya on the Brussel Sprouts thing! Icky poo…
I understand about the friend thing…sometimes people have standards for others that they don’t have for themselves….
Sorry your foot hurts still.
I can’t share shoes with my daughters…all but one have bigger feet than me – the one who doesn’t is 9 years old!
My weight loss is going badly too – let’s keep at it!
Bless you today, Lisa!
Losing friends does hurt. I can remember times I’ve made good choices, and friends left because of it. That doesn’t hurt quite so badly. It’s when I can’t figure out what I did wrong that it really hurts.
I’m going to get back to my diet again after reading this.
Best wishes on your bridal show!
I have experienced the loss of a friendship too, it is so confusing as my friend never even told me why she chose to leave. I can deal with it but some days it gets to me. Like you said not everyone is going to like me! 🙂 I do on the other hand like brussel sprouts!
First time I have commented and I enjoy reading your blog, I can relate to a lot of your tales.
Love your list!! I sure wish we lived closer and I completely understand the sleep thing. What is it about aging and sleep. It’s killing me!!!
Have a great day!
I had no idea we had so much in common! I like burlap and rusty wire. I’m wanting to decorate my back porch that way. But. I like Brussels Sprouts. Made my way. Fresh. Never frozen. Other than that, we’re sistas from anotha motha. 😀
I had to laugh about the shoes… our youngest son and I wear the same size shoes. but he is ALWAYS wandering off in my shoes. maybe it has something to do with the fact that during the winter I wear winter crocs or birkenstock clogs but still. 🙂 And the sleep… well I now know what has happened. I am getting all of your sleep! unless I’ve had any caffeine. I can’t drink coffee, tea, or soda after 2:00 p.m. or I won’t sleep. And I promise I will eat ALL of your brussel sprouts. I ADORE them! Well I’m off to try a new recipe and if I love it I will share it on the blog later. vegan chocolate cupcakes! (this is the week of testing new recipes for birthday “cakes”!)
Haha! I knew we were soul sisters!
1. I hate brussel sprouts (and I am actually sure of it even though I have never eaten them. I simply refuse. Anything that looks and smells like that has to be gross.)
2. I am left handed.
3. Hello. My name is Susan and I am a freecell-aholic. For some reason, every time I win I feel like I have accomplished something!
4. I want to swim with dolphins too! Especially in Hawaii!
Thanks for the smile this morning!

I love your list- I made one too! Turns out we have a few things in common, homeschooling, our distaste for Brussel Sprouts, and love of burlap. Oh yeah, I would LOVE to go to Hawaii to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary…after I *get* skinny. 🙁
Can I add lima beans to the brussel sprout list? Both of those vegetables evoke a very unpleasant gag response that no one wants to see. Unfortunately, because of my intense dislike of them and refusal to have them in my home my children have never even tried them. I suppose that’s not the end of the world, is it.
My husband “accidentally” had the opportunity to swim with dolphins on our honeymoon. The problem was we thought they were sharks (we couldn’t see anything but the fin). I’m standing on the beach, screaming at him to get out of the water and people who lived in the area were laughing at both of us. A little embarassing, but hey, how are two people who were born and raised in cornfields supposed to know the difference between a dolphin fin and a shark fin?
About not sleeping well……..Have you been tested for sleep apnea? After being more tired than not for the last 10 years I had a sleep study done last fall and found out I have severe complex sleep apnea. It’s a very real problem with far reaching physical effects, beyond just being tired. Just something for you to think about. I’d be happy to explain more about it, if you’re interested.
When I’m having a rough day and I find myself wrist-deep in a half-gallon of blue bell I refuse to admit defeat.
I simply pat myself on the back for another successful 6 hour diet. 😉
Lovely list……………
Made me chuckle, made me want to do one…….
Niggly things that are not worthy of too much time but worthy to consider……..
I so get the Hawaii thing, BUT when I am skinny (hee hee, Hawaii and bulges……not a good combination!)
I also have a 13 year old boy…………why is that age soooooo hard ………not a kid, not an adult…….nowhere land!
It is my daughter’s 17th today that was hard one too but managed to scrounge some budget friendly gifts last night!!!
Thanks for you list!
Love Aussie Cathy
LOVE your 25 things–you should do 50 things. I know you’re busy enough, lady! SO funny about the shoes…wouldn’t you know it?!? Love you, friend.
🙂

I can only sleep when it is VERY cold, and even then I have to have a fan on me. Since I live in Coastal GA, there are very few nights of the year where I get much sleep at all.
I never liked brussels sprouts until I started making them with bacon and onions. My kids all love them and I’ve learned to like them because they are my husband’s favorite vegetable!
I just wanted to tell you, for some random reason I got a U-Line catalog in the mail and they sell rolls of burlap and also burlap bags! I remember around Christmas time that you had some trouble finding burlap, so I thought I’d share. Don’t know how the prices stack up but it’s worth a look, anyway.
hahaha.. i love #10, #11, #12.. funny. i love the link up parties =)
#23 made me laugh 🙂 Great list!
You crack me up! I loved #17. It made me laugh out loud … sounds like me … a few others did too, but, well you know …. will share more when I know you better *giggle*
Hi! Just found you’re blog from a friends pinterest post on “20 things to reset your kids” which was great, by the way. I just started reading some more, and this 25 random things caught me. It cracked me up! I think u think like I do. One subject to the next, and fast! Lol. I just enjoyed it. And thanks for your testimony. Its great to know we are sisters in Christ!
