It’s All About the Food
The Fourth of July weekend has put me in the mood for home-made ice cream and apple pie. Of course, I can’t make ice cream because our ice cream maker burned out last year and I resolved not to buy another until I find one that will make enough for our whole family at one time. Before I would make it in 2 or 3 batches and it just wasn’t a good method.
Then there’s the pie. Do I really want to peel a bunch of apples when Mrs. Smith does it so well? (I hope my friend Martha isn’t reading this) If you are reading Martha, I am planning to make your yummo Soft Pretzel Doggies for our Independence Day celebration. Oh yeah…bring it on baby.
I haven’t updated you on my keyboard problem. I got my keyboard replacement stickers and they are fantabulous! I love them so much that I put them on every key, not just the ones with the print rubbed off. I am back to typing at full speed and happy as a clam.
With so many of our friends out of town and the drought causing firework bans everywhere, we will be taking it easy on Monday. James rarely takes days like this off of work (just one of the many joys of being self-employed) so it will be pretty much like every other day except for the dogs barking all night because someone in the distance will undoubtedly be lighting firecrackers. Also, there’s a Cake Boss marathon on TLC which, since I WILL be taking the day off of work, I may watch. I can’t get enough of Buddy and his crazy cake antics.
Plus pie. Pie always makes a holiday special.
I hope you have a pie filled celebration.
Have a great day! We are headed to Western PA to pick up a pony for the younger folk in our family, thanks to Grandma and Grandpa! If we get home early enough we will set off some fireworks – fountains and such.

Los Angeles County hasn’t allowed fireworks ever since I’ve lived there – which is 20 years! So, we never have done fireworks! I am hoping to learn to make some sort of home made “non” ice cream since I’m unable to have any dairy! I have found some seriously yummy stuff with coconut “ice cream”. Everything will be yummy for you I’m sure! Have a wonderful holiday. Hubby and I are celebrating 17 years of marriage away from kids up in Oregon 🙂 The weather here is absolutely amazing! And everything is GREEN!!

Hello Lisa,
Happy Fourth of July weekend to yall!
Yummy…now you made me hungry.
My sis is here yes,’ Aunt Lisa’- they are up here working on their summer
home 😉 they are staying with us while they re-do the “roof”!
Might I add it is a big job…you know the type when we were all in our 20’s um 30’s
that we would of laughed and did and been able to move? 🙂
Now, we have all seen before our eyes…we are all over 40 and by the days end…
after all are cleaned up and we cringe when sitting or trying to get back up…;(
we say ah yes, saving lot-o-money & making memories with our now older ones!
Even thou I do think their big boys might not think this could happened to them? um? 😉
Any way …sorry got on a rabbit trail, while she is up north here we are looking at all our blogs we follow & she is so excited to learn about your circut (sp) machine….
she & I while cooking hot-dogs etc tomorrow will be dreaming up some crafting ideas…she does certain things while I stick to the sew-needle work?
Whats your thought on investing in a cricut? If you did not do lots of ‘other’ crafts? Think you mind a lil-info on this subject? A post or have we missed one?
have a great weekend…sorry so long
Blessings~
Lori 🙂

Apple pie is on our menu too. And we’ll be hang’n at the house too, playing cards, reading and watching movies. I might even float in the pool a few minutes if I can stand the heat and mosquitoes. Hope you guys have a relaxing holiday.
Nancy and I are sitting here in L.A. traffic coming back from Santa Monica. (Our hubbies are in the front seat.) We just decided to bake the Flag Cake featured on Dollar Store Crafts when we get back to her house. While the cakes bake, we’re going to share a piece of her to-die-for Italian Cream Coconut cake. What time can we expect you?
Hope you have a lovely day. Fireworks are illegal in NSW unless you get a special license and then they are a. hard to buy and b. very expensive. Of course we wouldn’t be letting them off today anyway. We have a long weekend in June for the Queen’s Birthday(though her actual birthday is in April) that is usually a bonfire and used to be cracker night before they were made illegal- too many injured children doing the wrong thing.
