From the Other Lisa
Several of my regular readers have let me know that I am not the first Lisa in their life. Some of you call me “The other Lisa” and “Lisa that’s not Aunt Lisa” and my friend Kim says, “Lisa-Who-Isn’t-Aunt-Lisa-But-We-Love-You-Anyway”. But no one takes her seriously because she’s already put up her Christmas tree. No, I’m not kidding.
I’m really into Christmas decorating and I love my trees but I also hate to end the “fall” themes. I like to take it to the weekend after Thanksgiving and then make the big switch. I’ve been seeing hints of Christmas all over blogland. You all are already doing such cute things. Between that and our chilly weather I am feeling the urge, but I will resist.
I have been doing a little bit of Christmas shopping though. A few stocking stuffers and a few things for friends. People must be doing the same thing because my etsy shop business is picking up. If you haven’t yet checked out etsy, you must! It’s such a great place for gifts….one of a kind items, handmade and vintage.
I just filled an order for some of my Personalized Family Pillows. A sweet, new customer had the great idea of giving one to each of the women in her family. That was really fun to do. As I worked on them I thought about her family and prayed for them. I have the added benefit of knowing all of their names since I was monogramming them on her pillows! So I could pray for them individually. I LOVE doing that.
Which brings me back to my name….since there are so many Lisa’s in your lives we should come up with a better way to describe me than “the other Lisa.” Maybe I could be “the best Lisa” or “my favorite Lisa” or “the slightly dysfunctional Lisa”.
Or I could be called “You look like you don’t feel good-Lisa” because at least 5 people said that to me this weekend. Really?! What about me communicates to others the freedom to tell me that? How BAD did I look? I felt fine. I acted fine. My hair was adorable. If you see me and you think I look a little under the weather I would prefer you said something like, “Hey, my favorite Lisa, here’s a chair and let me get you something to drink. I love your hair.”
See? Wasn’t that easy?
It’s another busy week here in the Pennington household. But this should be the last of them, at least until next week.
Happy Monday, my friends! From Lisa the Magnificent.
No? OK. I’ll keep working on it.
I like Lisa the Magnificent…I too have so many Lisa’s…my friend, crazy Lisa, then there is Lisa the baseball mom, and then Lisa who rides horses. So funny! I never label my other friends…oh, yeah and my neighbor Lisa…
I think I’ll stick with “bossy big sister Lisa”. 🙂 I think I remember telling you that you looked great this weekend.
I actually don’t have many Lisa’s in my life. One of my old school friends called Lisa changed her name to Eliza so I can’t even call her Lisa any more, but sometimes I slip- old habits die hard!
Dear My Only Lisa,
I only know one other Lisa and she’s not really an in-my-life Lisa… so you are IT! 🙂 Thanks for the comment over at my place, BTW. I am really loving your blog. I come from a family of big families so I feel right at home looking in the bloggy window into your busy world. Add in the fact you are so creative and you’ve got a faithful follower, hook line and sinker.
I would hope I would have the grace to comment on your hair… not the fact that you look tired! I always appreciate it SO MUCh when peopel say that kind of thing to me… makes me want to hand them my three children and say, “Ok, we’ll see how tired YOU are in a couple hours! I’m going grocery shopping ALONE, bye! Be back soon–er.. well after a while anyway!!”
Love,
Not So Fab Hair Day in NE
So I’m reading this post, and I’m about to jump right in and point at that the Kim you mentioned isn’t all that incredible, because WE TOO have our tree up already… and then I realized that you meant MY Kim in the first place, and both of us just had a great laugh… Christmas is coming quick ’round these parts 🙂
you could always exchange the S for a Z! Liza sounds good, and I don’t think there are very many around….unless someone happens to know Liza Minelli 😉
God Bless ya Liza, Sister Lisa, Magnificent Lisa, good hair Lisa…or maybe Lisa Penn. <3
for me it is, “No, not that Lisa (insert hubs name _____) the Lisa with the 9 kids, in Texas.”
hence, the bag was born. 😉
i like lisa the magnificent too, though.
I always refer to you as “The Pennington Point Woman – you know the one with 9 kids”
I think of you as “Lisa” in my head, but I think my family might think I’m weird if I talk about you as though you are my dearest friend just around the corner whom I meet with every morning over coffee even though I actually do meet with you over coffee just about every morning. But, they wouldn’t understand the kinship that comes across my computer screen. So you remain “The Pennington Point Woman – you know the one with 9 kids”.
Love your blog. You are an inspiration to me. Thanks for letting God shine through!
Hi Lisa, Your post are the first one I read every the morning. You always start my day with a giggle. You are such an inspiration and I adore the pillows.
Hugs,
Sherry
You are the only Lisa in my life, and yes, you’re magnificent!
I can’t believe anyone has a Christmas tree up already! Mine always goes up Thanksgiving weekend, and comes down the day after Christmas. I love it, but I am ready to pack it all up on the 26th…not the REASON, just all the extrastuff to clean around.
I love all of your decor——My 10+yo Clayton Marcus sofa will have to be replaced with my next tax return. What colorscheme do you see as fresh and new…..but will last me 10+ years?
Hi Lisa !
You are the one and only Lisa in my life 😉 BUT I have about 10 Jen/Jenny/Jennifer/Jenn’s…LOL
What if you used your middle name to help distinguish you from others? I have an uncle Terry and an aunt Terri, and yes they married each other. For a while we called my aunt ‘girl-Terri’ but now we use her middle name and call her ‘Terri Lynn’
Thanks for the sweet email and the link!!! OH MY, I love all of the yummy goodness in those pictures! I have changed my mind about 14 times regarding my chair…LOL! I also googled burlap/grain sack chairs and found some more neat ideas!!!
It is snowing here right now and I have a strong urge to bring out the tree…I’ll try to distract myself with something else, not sure if it will work though 😉
Have a GREAT week!!!
Hugs
Erica
yup, “the lisa with more kids than me” is the one i’m gonna go with to….
either that or “the lisa that i like” :0) (as opposed to the one i don’t)
Hello my favorite…Miss Lisa @ The Pennington Point!,
Well, you are so good at always cheering me up! I just always…smile, chuckle or just down right laugh at your post & yet, I know you are being “serious”. I will do this …tell a story or some such and all the while…others are smiling, smirking, laughing…? Whats the deal with that?
Yes, we are very guilty of “do you mean …Aunt Lisa” and my Maggie always corrects, “No-Miss Lisa @ The Pennington Point”! 🙂 She loves your blog 🙂 (13 going on 25)
I have had much-‘too-much’ going on this past week, have wondered how your knee is healing, are you caught up from the film-fest? (lack of comments)
Big question of the eve…whats the next project your off to do?
How about sharing that…
If the question line is open?
1. How about your “daily” type schedule?
2. Are you strick on this?
3. Do you do a chore/job type chart?
4. Do yall home church/go to a …?
Maybe this is here & you can referr me back to posts?
Thanks…Lisa at the Pennington Point! yes, I am sure your hair looks lovely 🙂
I’d love to get ya a chair as long as I can sit a spell as well…I am in the ‘lazy’ mood this eve & um…what to sip on what ever we are served! ha!
Have a great week!
Blessings~
~Lori

Lisa-of-the-Pointe? (You have to add the “e” to seem appropriately old-fashioned… which of course all we home schoolers ARE).
Thanks for the MOCK…er, umm, LINK! 🙂
