I should probably have learned by now that I shouldn’t write blog posts at midnight.
I might embarrass myself.
But I can’t sleep. This is my deal….no matter what time I get home from something….9:00, 11:00, 2:00 in the morning….
I have to wind down. I need at least an hour, usually two.
Tonight the girls and I went to a friend’s Senior Piano Recital. It was lovely. I was awestruck by the talent and perseverance of this young woman.
Then we stayed and visited. Friends we don’t get to see often, people we haven’t met before, food. All in all a very nice evening.
BUT we didn’t get home until 11:30. Then I have to wind down. For hours.
I simply do NOT go to sleep easily.
At least it gives me time to write. I worked on my book a little and added a new listing to my Etsy shop. It’s productive. It’s not like I just sit and play Family Feud on Facebook. Oh no, I would never waste my time like that.
I envy those of you that can fall asleep when your head hits the pillow. If I try to go to bed when I’m not ready, I keep hearing things like, “Please put 55 seconds on the clock Alex,” running through my head. I don’t know why.
It’s 1:00 in the morning. Maybe I’ll try to go to bed now. Instead of counting sheep I could, oh I don’t know, think of the answers to questions like, “Name something that helps you go to sleep.”
Counting sheep…..
Warm milk…………..

Do any of you have this problem? I’d love to hear what you do about it. Let’s ask 100 people………
I read until I am too sleepy to see the page. What are you writing? I want to be in line to buy the book!

Yep….I lay in bed with my Iphone and play Euchre in the dark (it’s a card game if you aren’t from the north!) Bad bad habit…. It’s sooo hard to fall asleep.
Oh, I know what you mean. I can’t go to sleep easily either. We have Bible study at our house on Wednesday nights for youth and college kids…close to 30 or 40. Every time I’m up til 2 am. We finish around 9 but I cannot for the life of me just hang it up! 🙂 Oh….featured you and your piano over at my blog today! LOVE it!!

i have had trouble sleeping the last couple of years, and have found a few things that help. sometimes i will literally count sheep, but works even better is to tense up my body slowly starting at my toes and going all the way up. then i relax it one bit at a time starting at my toes. it just lets some of the tension out and helps me to relax so i can fade off to sleep.

These are great tips! I will try some the next time I am out late. That’s when it is the worst….when I need an hour to wind down and I am out until midnight, or like Shaunna said, if we have people over until late. Thanks for the ideas! Lisa~
I’m the same way, especially like Shaunna said when I’ve hosted something. Leading our monthly support group meetings or Bible study…those always leave me needing to wind down afterwards.

I fall asleep on my way to bed. It’s a nice blessing to sleep so easily 🙂
