The Anniversary Party

James and I went to an anniversary party last night.  Nine couples celebrated 25 years of marriage of our dear friends Steve and Julie.

I just couldn’t help telling you about it.  I wish you all could have been there.

Their 4 children hosted the party.  The meal was wonderful and the fellowship was awesome.  But the best part was after dinner.

We watched a short vid

eo montage of their years together.  Then their children read them a beautiful letter thanking their parents for their love, for teaching them to love God, for loving each other…..it was surely an example to the other women of what it looks like when your children rise up and call you blessed.

Then each man took his turn standing and sharing a word.  Some of the men quoted Scripture, one man recited an old hymn (I wish I had a copy…it was so perfect!)  and all of the men echoed each other about how Steve’s heart for the Lord and his family has been a blessing to watch and be around.

What a joy it was for James and I to be there.  James shared about how thankful we are that God brought Steve and Julie and their family into our lives.  We love them, we are thrilled to have their children as friends for our children (they encourage our children to grow in Christ) and then, of course, in true James fashion……he told a funny story about camping and something about Steve being the only guy wise enough to bring a tarp.

My hope with this post is to impart some of the godliness that was in that room last night.  I pray for each of you that you will live lives that will honor God, exude love of family and be the kind of example Steve and Julie have been to everyone around them.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!”  Ecc 4:9-10
