Weekend Happenings

The bridal shower was wonderful!  Here’s a shot of my girls and I (and Levi) sitting at our table.  I think I told you there was a beach theme….well we had a bowl of fish for our centerpiece!  It was sitting on a cake stand and surrounded with ocean potpourri.  There was a leaf shaped candle floating in the water.  Aren’t people so clever?!

The next day we headed to the flea market in Round Top.  We were so inspired.

Funny though, we really weren’t tempted to buy anything.  We just wanted to come home and beat up the junky stuff we already have.  Pretty much everything we own came from either a flea market or a garage sale anyway.  Why buy new junk when we already have old junk we can make look like new junk?  Or…wait a minute…..I’m getting confused.

I did find two more of the school gym baskets I need for my new school desk idea.  Now I just need two more.

My only other purchase was an antique German feedsack.  I simply cannot resist these.  And they were everywhere.  It became obvious that if I wanted to be fashionable I was going to have to buy one.  The fabric is the same as the fabric I am using for my vintage feedsack pillow in my Etsy shop.

I am not sure what I will do with it yet.  I am mulling over making a slipcover for my couch.  I may use the feedsack to cover one of the cushions.

The two girls that went with me are ready to attack their room.  They want to paint the furniture and the walls.  They want new bed covers (but we’ll have to see about that) and they want to make themselves some curtains for their dormer windows.

All in all a successful trip.  Now I’m ready to be home and start on my living room.  I’ve gotta do it before I lose my momentum!

  1. LOVE, love, love the old clocks! I’ve heard of Round Top, but not sure where it is. I need to make a trip to Canton before the weather gets too hot. Most of my home is decorated with flea market and yard sale finds. Fun!

  2. Hi Angela….Round Top is between Brenham and Austin, kind of. I’ll bet you we walked through 10 miles of flea market and we didn’t see half of it! A trip to Canton is definitely on my short list of things to do! Lisa~

  3. I think it’s wonderful you were able to go bless your friends and be witness to the sweet, sweet testimony of their daughter’s courtship. What a wonderful memory for everyone!
