The New Mantle
Some of our dear friends expressed an interest in having me help them build a mantle for their new house. They had seen the mantle I built for our house and decided it was just what they wanted.
But before I tell you any more or show you any pictures, you need to know that this was a special circumstance. I do not do this often. So don’t be leaving me comments like, “Next you can come to my house” or “Hey! How about you come build me something!” I’m not like an Energizer bunny that keep going and going. I’m more like one of those rechargeable batteries. I have to stop and plug back in for a while before I can do anything else and even then I’m not much good anymore.
So back to my story….
Last week I took all of my favorite tools and my two older boys over to their house. My friend’s husband worked with us and we got that thing built in just 6 short hours (and that includes a run to the hardware store).
Here’s what it looked like when we got there….
We cut and nailed and sanded and laid tile. My friend watched over us like a hawk….making sure we did it exactly the way she wanted. She’s a slave driver! (and she’ll probably rake me over the coals for posting this picture…hee hee)
When we left. it still needed more staining, so I had to wait until today to get the final picture. But I think it looks wonderful!
Now I must get back to my own problems. Living in an old house that needs constant work can be draining….especially for an old rechargeable like me.
