Keep them coming!! I used to think I knew all the answers before I actually HAD kids, I only worked with them and thought I knew everything.
Now I have two little ones and find myself floundering all the time as a mom. I really love reading advice from seasoned pros like yourself Heather“s last [type] ..One Year of Pyrex
I would LOVE to see a post about potty training. I’m currently potty training Son 1 who is two and a half. He hates to go in his diaper, but the stinker won’t tell me when he has to go, when he’s in his underwear. So, I continue to ask him all day and take him regularly and he’ll go when I take him (which I feel like is a small victory) but at some point, the kid’s gotta tell ME when he needs to go! Doesn’t he know Mom’s not a mind reader??
Anywho- LOVE your parenting posts (and all the others for that matter)!
Amy, I’m not the best at potty training, even though I have semi-successfully potty trained 9 people. I can say that it took a long time before they told me they needed to go. I just kept taking them at regular intervals. Asking, “Do you need to go?” didn’t work. So I’d just say it was time to go and eventually they trained to go and started going on their own. Lisa~
Lisa, do you have a list of great authors you turn to when introducing books to your kids? My sweet six-year-old is ready for early chapter books, and while I love the concept of her reading from a 1st grade perspective, I’m not a fan of the sassiness that is often portrayed in many books written to her age group. She’s not ready for reading the Narnia series on her own yet, but I would love something along those lines that also empowers her through reading on her own (We do so much reading aloud, it would be a great quiet-time activity). Thanks for any tips you have!
Do you have any experience with poop smearing? I am 23 years old and I have a 1 & 2 year old. I am the oldest of 5 children in my family and I can honestly say none of my sibling smeared poop. Recently my son (2) has taken up this disgusting habit. He has done it atleast 20 times now, smearing it all over his room and his sister. It doesn’t matter the circumstances, he could be in his room for an hour or just 5 minutes. For discipline my husband and I have tried standing him in the corner, giving him messy activities, and even giving him a cold shower but nothing has worked!!! If you have any experience with this please let me know what tactics you used to stop it Because I am about to pull all of my hair out!!!
