20 Ways to Use Rose Oil

Having a bottle of Young Living Rose oil was high on my wish list, but because it is the most expensive oil they sell, I knew I had to have a better reason than, “I just want it,” for ordering.  After much figuring I did get myself a bottle of it about a year ago and let me tell you…..worth every penny!

Rose is distilled with the petals and it takes SO MANY roses to make one small bottle that the price is high. But if you use it well it lasts for years (mine is still almost full and I use it a lot). I’ve made a list of ways to use this incredible oil and I hope you’ll get a bottle for yourself!

You’re worth it!

1. Make your own perfume. There are so many studies about the dangers of synthetic perfumes….why risk your health and those around you?! Make your own by getting perfume sprayers and adding a couple of drops of Rose to a little distilled water and a few drops of witch hazel.

2. Split the cost with a friend (or two!). It’s easy to share a bottle of oil. Pick up some extra bottles or use empty ones you’ve rinsed out and drop half of the oil in bottles to split the cost. Sharing is fun!

3. Just smell it! One reason my rose oil has lasted for so long is because one of my favorite ways to use it is just to open it and take a couple of long, slow whiffs. You get the benefits to your limbic system without actually USING any of the oil.

4. Make a roll-on. Get a roller bottle (I prefer the ones with metal roller balls) and fill it about halfway with V6 (or the carrier of your choice). Then add a few drops of Rose oil and shake. Now you have a wrist oil to use and it will stretch your bottle of oil to make it last longer.

5. Add a drop to your diffuser necklace. I love putting Rose oil in my necklace because the smell lasts for more than a week, longer than any other oil I’ve tried.  When I know I’m going to have a challenging week I’ll add it to my necklace and know I have it right at my heart anytime I need the emotional support.

6. Apply it to your declotage area. This is the part of your body between your neck and chest and it’s dreamy! Using an oil like rose there means you have it close to your nose, heart and brain. This is a great area to apply because it “introduces” you to people you walk up to and they get the benefits as well.

7. Blend with geranium, ylang ylang or lime for a beautiful harmony of scents! Stretch your pricey oils with more affordable oils to get the benefits without the cost of using so much of it. Plus the oils together make amazing, uplifting and encouraging smells that you will LOVE!

8. Bath salts, oh how I love you. Take 1/4 c epsom salt and add just ONE drop of rose. The smell is amazing and taking a bath in this will make you feel like the Queen of Sheba. And the emotional benefits are immeasurable. This is a treat y’all.

9. Make a massage lotion. Use an unscented lotion as a base for making a crazy good massage lotion. Add a drop of rose and a few drops of lavender and give your mate a massage they’ll never forget.

10. Add it to your facial moisturizer. Rose is AMAZING for your skin! Add a drop to your regular moisturizer and it will enhance your nighttime routine. One drop is enough to add to your whole bottle of moisturizer, so if it’s in a pump I’d squirt it into a jar and mix it with Rose. For a real treat to your skin add 2 drops of frankincense too

11. Make a “Happy Lotion” for your family. Rose oil, because of its high frequency, is very uplifting. Make a bottle of lotion (I’d add some bergamot too) for your family to use. I use a plain lotion base and add the oils, then put it in a pump bottle. Write Happy Lotion on the bottle and let anyone use it who’s having a rough day.

12. For minor cuts, scrapes and scars…. being so good for the skin I like to use rose on any small skin challenges. Add a few drops to V6 and make a light, simple skin cream for those places that need some extra love. I might add some helychrisum too!

13. Elbow & Heel balm. Those extra dry spots need attention so I make a balm by melting a small amount of beeswax, Shea butter and vitamin e. I add a drop of rose and a drop of tea tree oil and rub it on my heels and elbows at night. The guys in my house particularly like this recipe.

14. Use ONE drop in the diffuser. Rose is the most uplifting oil! But being so expensive I only use it during times of extreme emotional needs (which happens more often than I’d like). Add other oils that you love for emotional support (bergamot, ylang ylang, tangerine, patchouli).

15. It’s great for your hair! Mix a drop of rose and a drop of copaiba to some coconut oil and olive oil (sorry I don’t have specific recipes….it’s just a little of each) and make a wonderful hair treatment. Wet your hair in the shower and massage the coconut oil mixture into your scalp, leave it for a few minutes then complete your hair washing routine. This is SO GOOD for your scalp!

16. Make a bedroom spray. Ready for some romance? ‘Cuz Rose oil is very enticing. Mix a drop of rose + a drop of clove into some water in a sprayer and spritz the sheets. You’ll thank me later.

17. Make an “after fire” spray. You may know that we’ve been dealing with a house fire and I’ve had to do research on what to do for my poor smoke smelling house. I’ve learned that a good post-fire spray (or in the diffuser) is rose +lemon. I’ve been spraying it on everything I can and not only does it help with the residual smells, but it’s so uplifting, which we all need during this trial.

18. Have ready made gifts. Make up some sprays or rollon bottles and have them all ready to give as gifts! It’s a great gift for all the ladies on your lists, teachers, brides, new moms, co-workers, anyone! And if you pre-make half a dozen you’re all set when the next gift giving occasion comes along.

19. Be a supportive friend. A few drops of rose in a small bottle (like the ones that come in the Premium Starter Kit) or a spray bottle with rose oil would be such a help for a friend going through a hard time. I know for me I would have felt so loved and cared for with that kind of love and the spray is so uplifting when you need an emotional boost.

20. For your own quiet moments. At least once a week I need an evening to myself.  I shut myself in my bathroom and straighten the space, do my personal grooming, organize my weekly supplements, etc. When I’m finished I will take a bath and sip some hot tea and relax. Mom needs down time and I drop of rose in the tub or the diffuser helps me keep my mind calm and focused. It makes that time more fulfilling and grounding and I’m a better mom, wife, friend after those nights.

There are so many great uses for rose oil that it’s worth the investment in yourself and your loved ones. Remember it’s very strong and doesn’t need to be used full strength to get the benefits. Make it stretch and share it with the people you love.

Enjoy!!! 🌹 🌹 ❤️ 🌹 🌹
