  1. This is a great post for me – I’m always freezing cold and I have no imagination when it comes to layer my look. I’ve been trying harder in December as part of my personal challenge – but I keep falling into old habits! Thanks for inspiring me to take another look at my closet!

  2. Why the fuss about not wearing pants? Is it so the bottom doesn’t show? I am asking just honestly.

    1. Hi Keri! I definitely don’t think it’s a fuss. It’s just our conviction and I get a lot of inquiries from other women who have the same commitment. But I think it’s a personal preference and not an absolute right or wrong. Just my thoughts. 🙂 Here is a post I wrote a few years ago about why we choose to dress this way. http://50.87.248.66/~thepenp8/2010/08/dressing-modestly/

      Thanks! Lisa~

  3. 🙂 My first thought when I saw the title of your post was “She lives in Texas, why does she need to stay warm?” 🙂 But it sounds like you must have some experience with cold, since you’ve shared some great ideas. A thin fleece/flannel underskirt (with a slip in between to keep it from clinging) is what I use on the coldest days. I’ve also seen fleece leggings advertised, although I haven’t ordered any yet – if it’s really cold, I’ll use tights and leggings. They just need to be the right material so they don’t get stuck on one another. Point being, I agree that layering is a wonderful way to keep warm! Oh, and a warm scarf at the neck works wonders too!

  4. Your tips reveal that you don’t actually have a lot of experience with the cold. I think everyone can figure out that they can wear tights and leggings to stay warm. Not very helpful.
The best tip came from Jaqueline in the comments: wear an underskirt!
Also choose heavier fabrics and longer skirts, with fleece lined leggings underneath and knee-high boots – a lot warmer than pants.

    1. Well Brenda, I did say that it doesn’t get very cold where I live. But we do have chilly days (it’s been below freezing for over a week) and these ideas have worked great for me.

And believe me, lots of people have asked me about my leggings and where I get them and how to wear them. Just because it’s not new information to you doesn’t mean someone out there can’t benefit from it.

I am sure there are a LOT of ideas that I wouldn’t think of and products I don’t even have easy access to because of my southern location.

Thanks for the simple tips you left at the end, which I found helpful even though I am sure everyone can also figure out that they can wear knee high boots to keep warm. Lisa~
