A Great Christian Workout Playlist

(This post contains affiliate links)

Since I workout every morning (who IS this stranger in my body?!) I listen to a lot of music.Β  I need some new stuff so last week I asked on Facebook for suggestions for some new workout music and BOY did I get a LOT of ideas!Β  Hundreds.

It took me a few days, but I sorted through them all and listened to parts of a lot of the songs.Β  Then I took my favorites, added some I already had, and made myself a new playlist.Β  It’s got be good to keep me bouncing down the street on these c-c-cold mornings.Β  I thought I’d share it with you in case you’re looking for some fresh tunes.

I chose a variety of artists, hoping maybe you will explore them and find some new ones that you like.Β  I also put it in the order I like, but that shuffle feature is fun too….keeps me on my toes.

  1. Good Morning by Chris Rice. I don’t have any music in iTunes!! Thank you for the giveaway!

  2. Thank you for this post. I usually run to revel in the quiet, but lately I’ve been searching for a little oomph to get me going. πŸ™‚

  3. Speechless by, Israel & New Breed- Jesus At The Center. This song makes me cry with joy every time!

  4. I just recently got back into running. Several years ago, I was very committed to my exercise routine and loved my music and workout time. Like so many of us, I’ve fallen away from it and want to get motivated to start again. I love some of my music more than others. It’s amazing how much difference a song can make. I have told myself each day while I’m exercising that when I finish my workout, before the next day, I will get new music. Still hasn’t happened. I’m so thankful for your post. Just what I needed, and as an added bonus, it seems like you and I have similar taste in music. Even better! Can’t wait to use it! πŸ™‚

  5. I haven’t heard some of these songs! Thanks for sharing. My new favorite movin song is Shake, by Mercy Me.

  6. Thanks Lisa for posting the songs~ I love each one of them, as each one speaks a different message to my heart~ Happy Continuing on your Fitness Journey~
    Joetta from Alaska

  7. I love Mandisa and Chris Tomlin but Third Day and Matthew West they have some jump starters.

  8. I guess I don’t really have a favorite workout song, but one of my current favorite worship songs is “Mercy Tree” by Lacey Sturm. The music video is really good too!! πŸ™‚

  9. OH how exciting! I’ve been despairing for music to walk/exercise to as what I had been listening to was NOT holy! In fact it quite the opposite and I found it to be quite convicting when I did listen to the garbage… in fact within a time or two I noticed the disruptive and negative effect it was having! There is so much truth to the adage of “garbage in, garbage out”. So I quit listening and with that my motivation has diminished! (add to the fact that with our subzero temps & snow it is simply impossible for me to walk outside…. period! it causes severe respiratory distress…) Can you guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow? Checking out these tunes!! (because today I am preparing bags/boxes for donating, consigning, and plan old trash! We are getting new carpet next week in much of the house and it is the perfect time to take a look at what we have…. only the truly loved & used stays!!

    Have a lovely week!!

  10. I love your selections! Music is so good for my soul! I LOVE “Overcomer”. I always picture a “Rocky” scene when I hear it. I don’t box, but it gets me moving!

  11. Back in the 80s when I was thin, I loved Diana Ross singing “Upside Down.” I did leg lifts to it. The song still motivates me to be healthy. Also Dire Straits “Money for Nothing” has a great beat for working out! Neither would fall on your Christian list, but neither would I have in the 1980s! LOL Bu the songs still conjure up images of my doing a good workout!

  12. I always start my morning workout with “Good Morning” by Mandisa! tobyMac is all over my workout playlist too!

  13. I love listening to Mandisa or Toby Mac…pretty much anything they sing inspires me to move! : )

  14. Love this list Lisa! When I take a cycling class with my girlfriend I usually do my own thing and part of it is listening to Christian music while I ride. I love TobyMac’s Catchafire (Whoopsi-Daisy). I love how uplifting these all are!

  15. One of my favorite songs to workout to is Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. πŸ™‚ Also REALLY dig Make War by Tedashii. I need to REALLY be pumped up when I’m working out!!! πŸ™‚

  16. “I’m an Overcomer!” is very inspirational and fast paced so it can really help me to move a little faster when I want to give up!

  17. great list

you should give these a try:
GROUP 1 CREW : Dangerous & He Said
    1 Girl Nation : While We’re Young

  18. Very cool! Haven’t heard of probably half of the band so I will have to check it out! Thanks

  19. Have you tried “Wake” by Hillsong? It’s currently on repeat on my playlist for running. There’s also a remix version of Mandissa’s “Good Morning” that I love.

  20. I don’t have a single favorite song but I do enjoy listening to a Chris Tomlin CD that I have of praise songs.

  21. You are missing something vitally important! “Happy Day” by Jesus Culture. It’s not the gospel song you might be thinking of. This song will make you feel alive and full of joy for what Christ has done! Love it!

  22. I don’t usually listen to music when I workout but maybe I need to start. This could be just what I need. Thanks

  23. I love “Never Once” by Matt Redman.
    “Standing on this mountain top
Looking just how far we’ve come
    Knowing that for every step
    You were with us
    Kneeling on this battleground
Seeing just how much You’ve done
    Knowing every victory
    Was Your power in us.”

  24. Thanks for the list! I LOVE so many of those songs! I’m getting ready to start fitness walking and needed a list like this.

  29. Bah! How terrible is it that I can’t think of my favorite workout song. I mean, it’s like I’ve not worked out in…a long time. Although I do have to say Mandisa is pretty high on my list right now πŸ™‚
