Embracing Modesty, No. 43

The past week has been a whirlwind of activity.  You’d think since I got dressed up almost every day I would have some good pictures to show y’all.  But most days I had to leave before the sun rose so I didn’t get a photo.

I do have one to show you from the week before.  I am down to pretty much nothing that fits, so I wore an old vest that I tied up with a string in the front.  The skirt is one that I took in a few inches to get more wear out of it and the top is so old I think I wore it pre-kids.  Really, I am grasping at straws here.

a series about modesty

I wear those gray flower pins so often I am surprised they haven’t fallen apart.

So many of you have asked for a before and after shot since my weight loss.  So since I am short on photos this week, here’s one from my first post in January side by side with this one.

a great series on dressing modestly

I still have a long way to go.  I hope I have some new clothes before much longer, although it’s so hard to spend money on clothes when you know they won’t fit you in a few months.

Be sure to check out my gallery of posts from this series.  We show lots of great ideas for being modest without looking frumpy.

  1. I love the side by side – wow! What a difference! You look amazing! I am so very very happy for you – so much hard work and self discipline has really really paid off! A friend reminded me recently that God never wastes our struggles – that He will use them for His glory and good. I don’t know what hard things are in our futures, but God does – and this is ‘muscle building’ time. He is allowing us to have victory in the area of self-discipline now because somewhere down the line we will need strength in that area. We will be able to look back at this time of preparation and be thankful for the lessons learned here that will equip us for the challenges ahead. All for His glory!

  2. WOW!!! You can definitely tell the difference in the side by side shots, especially in your face:D Thank you for being so authentic about your journey and struggle with weight loss. You are an inspiration to me. I am trying to lose 50 lbs. total but taking it 10 lbs at a time.

    Blessings~

  3. You were always beautiful, but now you are radiant! And I love your pulled together look…it’s my favorite so far. I am so proud of you. I’ve been walking and eating right lately too, and seeing your progress is inspiring. Mine’s not for weight loss, but for health ( mainly my high bp) but I hope to see some of this jiggle left after 5 babies get firmed up 😉

  4. Your dedication and commitment to your goals have been so inspiring to us all! I love you morning instagrams. And you look like you feel great too! xo

  5. All I can say is WOW! You are such an encouragement to me to hang in there and know it takes time. Thank you!

  6. Hi lisa, you look wonderful. You say you still have a long way to go. How much do you want to lose? Fifty pounds is an incredible amount of weight. Hats off to you!

  7. You look absolutely lovely!! It’s relatively easy to just take the sides of a skirt in a few inches to get you through until you get to your goal.

  8. LOVIN’ the outfit 🙂

Yes, you do look great, and I am so chuffed for your weight loss, but can I say something in a whisper: … you look so attractive every time I’ve ever seen you. Very pretty 🙂

  9. You’re doing so great! I am so proud of you. Perhaps we’ll meet up at SNAP again this year and share some celery! How many lbs. are you down now? I’m knocking on the door of -40 which is about the halfway mark for me. Yay for clothes that no longer fit!

  10. Take your favorite wardrobe pieces and find a good tailor. Alterations are much cheaper than new clothes and alterations will get you through until you want to buy new. Or… hit your favorite Salvation Army or thrift store.

    1. Thanks Robin! I have already taken my clothes in as much as I can. The skirts are holding out but the shirts can only take in so much. Know what I mean?

But I’m not complaining! It’s a good problem to have.

      Blessings!
      Lisa~
