Embracing Modesty, No. 44

My girls have been so cute lately I wanted to share some of their latest looks.  It’s a joy for me to see what they come up with each morning.  Melts my mother’s heart that my daughters love being creative and full of simple beauty.

Hope is so pretty every day.  She put this together for a school girl look.  Most of the pieces are from Cato, but from at least last season since we haven’t bought anything new for quite a while.

Faith is my girl with a more funky style.  In this picture she has on a top that she cut from an old t-shirt.  She just cut it off.  The white top is a tank and the skirt is old, old, old.  But she loves the old stuff.

Here she is again in another top she cut from something else.  She just cut up an old skirt and stitched it into a vest.  Look closely….she used soda can tabs along the front to run a tie through for the closure.

And here’s the same striped top, skirt and shoes from above.  But this time she wore a doily vest she made out of a vest that didn’t fit me anymore and topped it with a scarf.  Cuteness.

It’s such a pleasure for me to see what my girls put together every day.  Sure, there are some days when their clothing doesn’t match and it’s not always perfect, but still they are trying to find their styles and I am always impressed with their creativity.

  1. She is so adorable and creative! I especially love the doily vest and the skirt up top; I remember wearing those bias A-line plaid skirts, also in maxi length, and want to wear them again. There’s a rule out there about not wearing a style you wore LAST time it was in style–apparently because you’re too old this time–but some rules are made to be broken.

    1. Rhetta, you are never too old! Wear whatever style you like! My grandmamma just always said, “Just don’t wear white after Labor Day!”

I agree with you they are both adorable and creative!

  2. I love reading the Embracing Modesty posts and my daughter does as well. She’s exploring her style as we move to all skirts all the time and these posts of your daughters are encouraging and helpful. I’m also encouraged by how lovely they are within their own style and that it’s OK to let them explore that within certain boundaries.

  3. Faith is a very clever girl. I love to see the outfits my girls pull together as well. I love watching them grow into lovely young women.

  4. I love Faith’s style. I wish she would sell her clothing items in her Etsy shop. If she could offer custom size orders, I believe they would sell very well!
