Quick! Name a World Leader that Starts with the Letter K

It didn’t start off being the easy weekend I had hoped.  James was out of town last week so by Friday I was about ready to run to the hills and hide.  The kitchen sink wouldn’t drain, the pool keeps turning green, my school load is very heavy this year and I’m not eating chocolate….do the math.  It got ugly.

Then my friend Sara called and she needed to get out of her house too so we met for lunch.  If I can’t run to the hills, I’ll run to the nearest restaurant that serves a grilled chicken salad.  Sara and I always make each other laugh and by the end of our meal we were laughing so hard that the other customers were glaring at us, so we moved on to Walmart to stir up trouble there (small town excitement).

On Saturday we celebrated a big event.  It was my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.  Saturday morning after my walk we all drove the hour to their house to surprise them.  It was so nice to sit on their porch and talk for a while.  It made me wish we did that more often.  Life is too fast paced around here.

The rest of Saturday we cleaned and I worked on the school schedule for the week ahead.  I had to write it all out on the white board so I don’t forget anything.  If left to my own memory Elijah might not learn another thing until after Christmas.  Then it was time for family game night.

We decided to get out an oldie and play Scattergories.  Most of the kids had never played it, which just shows how sad their upbringing has been.  How can one have a happy childhood without ever having frantically tried to think of a world leader that starts with the letter K or a breakfast food beginning with the letter Y?  (I said “Yummy Granola” but they wouldn’t accept it….rude)

Since Sunday was the first day of September, it was the first day of my exciting project.  I am doing and Instagram challenge with some of my wonderful blog peeps.  Every day we’ll be sharing one of our favorite things.  Some of the best things I own are because I heard about them from other bloggers, so I wanted to share some of my faves with you. You can join us with your own favorite things by using the hashtag #everydayfaves.  Come on….it’ll be fun!

But the best part is that at the end of the month I will be giving away a box filled with all of the things I featured.  Oh yes!  I am SO EXCITED!!!!  It’s going to be a great prize….my favorite stuff is awesome!

We ended the weekend by watching the season premier of Duck Dynasty.  It was so sweet to watch Phil and Miss Kaye renew their vows.  We were all tearing up and the timing was perfect with my parents’ anniversary the day before.  If you haven’t seen it you must check it out.  I love Duck Dynasty.

I wanted to tell you also that in a couple of weeks I will be heading to Houston to go to the Blog Elevated Conference.  If you’re looking for a great conference to go to I’d love to see you there.  Let me know if you’re interested and I can send you a discount code.

Have a great week and I’ll see you on Instagram!
