Embracing Modesty, No 36

I’ve been out of the house a couple of days this week plus the weather is changing, so I’ve got some fresh things to show you.

I like getting out clothes I haven’t worn in a while and putting together like-new outfits.  I rarely remember what I wore together last year so it’s a whole new experiment every time.

On this day I was running errands.  The skirt you’ve seen before (I got it at Dillards and I love it so much I want to marry it) and the tops are from Cato (maybe last year or the year before).  The pearls are a bunch of necklaces made into one and I hung a charm from one of them.

And this other look is what I wore yesterday running more errands and having dinner with my friends.  I haven’t worn this top for several years so I may play around with it more before it’s too big for me.  I think I will try it with a black skirt, although that would lose the color blocking affect.  One thing I wanted to point out is that I pinned my gray flowers at the “waist” instead of the top.  Be adventurous with your accessories!

I love those gray flowers.  I got them on clearance at anthropologie a few years ago.  Last weekend I wore them to my parent’s anniversary party on my lapel.  I don’t have a full body picture, but here’s a good one of James and I where you can see the flowers.

I hope you’re enjoying the change of seasons and playing with your clothing separates and trying out new ways to wear your accessories.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out our gallery of posts from our Embracing Modesty series!

  2. Looking good! You inspire me to try harder to make my outfits more interesting – isn’t it so nice to have a ‘waist’ to accent with those pretty pretty posies? Way to GO! You’re doing amazing!

  3. love, love, love the photo of you and hubby, and your wavy hair is so darn cute. I’m just lovin’ this series, it gives me a lot of ideas for accessorizing. Thanks.

  4. I love the picture of you and your husband, also. You are a beautiful couple. I would still think that even if I’d never read your blog, but I think you are also “beautiful” in the way you love each other and your children, and in the way you live your lives. (We’ve never met, but your family’s light shines brightly through your blog.). You are a big inspiration to me. (There’s more I could say, but I will stop bc I really just meant to say it’s a great pic!) 🙂
