Getting Fit Together!

Well my friends.  It has begun.

I ate my last dessert, slept late for the last time.

The next 42 days will be filled with things that will take me out of my comfort zone. (Read HERE if you don’t know what I’m talking about.)

I got up this morning and exercised and wondered, “Who is this stranger wearing these horrid shoes and doing lunges?  She is unfamiliar to me.”

And man, oh man, I am sore already.  I can’t for the life of me figure out why people do this to for fun.  Like those people who actually exercise when they are on vacation….crazy town!

The good news is that “42 Days to Fit” seems like it’s a gradual increase into fitness, which is what I need.  Those people that go on The Biggest Loser and start training like Olympic athletes the very first day must go into some kind of exercise shock.  It’s not pretty, and I like to be pretty.

In fact, sweating in general is not my cup of tea.  Just one more reason, folks, that I might have a problem.

If you left a comment on the original post letting me know you will be joining me on this harrowing 42 day adventure, then I hope you’ll consider joining the Facebook group I set up.  It will be a place to encourage one another and share in the journey.  It is a private group, so we’ll have to become Facebook friends for me to add you.  Oh, and you don’t have to be doing the 42 day challenge to join us!

Today I’m drinking only water and eating more purposefully.  I did my core exercises and tomorrow I will start walking.

As an added bonus, I am planning to invite one of the kids to walk with me each time.  That will give us a chance to spend some one-on-one time together.

So, how are you doing?  Have you already started?

Be sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram!

  1. I will join your group-if you will let me! Bernadette Veenstra…
I think inviting one of your kids to walk with you each time is an awesome idea. You are awesome!=)

  2. Wow! I love your blog so much! I’ve been reading it for the past hour while the kids are running lose all around me 🙂 Thank you for sharing bits of your life with us readers. We have 2 sons and 3 daughters, in that order. Homeschooling and are Officers (ministers) with The Salvation Army, currently stationed in Bakersfield,CA.
I especially like your modesty posts with the pictures and outfit ideas. We are a “mostly dresses” but always feminine. Us girls that is, lol! You seem like such a pretty and lovely lady. God bless.

  3. Way to go! About 3 weeks ago, I finally decided to just begin regular exercise by walking in our development which has LOTS of hills, most of them challenging. One day I actually drove it to see how far I was walking and it’s 1.2 miles and easily done within 30 minutes by keeping the pace quick. One of my daughters usually accompanies me, which is fun. On the 2 mornings that she has to work in a friend’s barn down the road (to offset the room and board for her pony), I am by myself, during which I just pray out loud, and before I know it, I’m back at our driveway! I agree with you that exercise is not “fun”, but it feels GOOD and I know my heart and bones need this. (What’s with these other home educated families that run 5K marathons??? Anyway….). Just walking our neighborhood is a great goal. God has been so merciful. This past week, however, I didn’t get out once (very cold mornings or 30 plus MPH winds are deal breakers for me), but I am not deterred and will get out most of this coming week. Now when I have to do our health assessment for our health insurance or go to a doctor (not even every year), I will be able to write or say, “Walk over a mile 5-6 times a week”. Also, when I remember that our heart is a MUSCLE, like all the other muscles in our body, it needs to be exercised to be made strong. Oh.

    Keep on keeping on!

  4. Joining you Lisa! I’ve been going for 5 weeks but this will be great reading and following along. Turning 50 in a year is something that I have dreaded for awhile because how I felt, unhealthy! So I’m taking my body back and getting into shape. I’ve always wanted to run a marathon so here I go. Turn 50 in August of 2014 so I would like to have run/ walk a marathon by then.

Thanks for doing this and getting it started!

    Cheryl

  5. What a lovely idea to walk with one of your children. One to one time must be at a premium in your house! 🙂 Day 4 here now with me. Still no desserts here and feeling good. I don’t think I will have lost any weight, but I’m okay with that. This week’s focus for me is really just not relying on sugar for quick energy when I am tired from dealing with a toddler and a tiny baby!
