Cooling Off Just Got Easier

With 4 daughters, I have had many treasured discussions about how our bodies change in our teen years, how they blossom into young womanhood. I wanted my girls to feel prepared for the new experiences, the emotions, the lifestyle shift.

I am now thinking that I will sit them down once more when they turn 42. I will tell them, “Guess what darling, it’s about to happen again.”

At least that’s about when it started for me. My cycles, my skin, my hair, my sleep patterns, my memory…all started to change. I knew age would bring new experiences, but I had no idea what I was in for.

A few months ago I announced to my family that Mommy was going through a phase. “I will get really hot all of a sudden…so hot I feel like I might throw up. It may seem like it’s cool to you, but my body is telling me it’s really, really hot and I will be miserable. It lasts for about 10 minutes, then it’s gone.” They all stared at me like I was informing them I was an alien from another planet…which is kind of how I feel sometimes.

I am working with natural remedies to help my body through this very special lady time, but when a hot flash hits, it’s no joke. I need relief and I need it NOW!

So when I heard about the products from Poise called Roll-On Cooling Gel and Body Cooling Towelettes, I was super excited. This could be just what I need to survive the next few years without moving to the arctic.

I practically ran to the local pharmacy and picked up both products. I brought them home, opened the packaging, laid them out in the bathroom and got them all ready for the moment. I knew it wouldn’t be long.

Sure enough, within the hour I had a hot flash. And it was a doozy. I tried the roll-on. I put it on my wrists and, I am not kidding you, I felt instantly cooler. I sat there in my bathroom chair with a feeling of hope. I wasn’t alone! Somewhere on this earth someone understands me so well that they created a product just for this moment. Ahhhh.

Even though I loved the roll-on, I wanted to try the towelettes also, so I planned to use them the next time. Later in the day I felt it coming on…that tenth of a second before BAM! You’re in full flash. I called for the towelettes and one of the kids brought them to me. I rubbed one on my chest this time and felt sweet cooling. Another score for Poise.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have made this discovery. My alien body can now find relief and not embarrass my family in public by suddenly shedding my clothing and fanning myself violently in 43° temperatures.

You’ve got to get a free sample and try it for yourself. Or click here to get a coupon.

And I also get to give one of YOU a $100 Visa gift card! Isn’t that COOL (pun intended)?!

  1. i approach life’s changes with some me time. I need to have a quiet moment to talk to myself, to go through a thought process, to reflect. that helps me so much to be at peace with what’s to come.

  2. I don’t think I am approaching life’s changes confidently! LOL! They are still a few years off, but I have NO CLUE how I will handle them! I hope Poise keeps these “cool off” products around!

  3. I started into it just recently. I’m 39 will be turning 40 in August. I thought I was going nuts! This past weekend was horrible with hot flashes. literally soaked in sweat. I just recently read about Poise and cannot wait for my free sample to come in the mail. I think we need more people to talk about perimenopause and menopause. Everyone talks about what it is like when we first start but there is little talk about the ending of our cycles. Kuddos to you for sharing your testimony!
    Thanks,
    Mandi

  4. This is what the Lord has for me and I trust Him to bring me through it with His Grace

  5. I’m in full swing, approach has long gone! And honestly, I’m not fairing so well. My kids think I’m loosing my mind and my husband spends a lot of time in the garage! LOL! Looking forward to grocery day so I can grab some Poise products to see if my composer will return!

  6. I think it is great that our blog friends are discussing this with us. By the time we hit that next change in life our Mom’s probably think we will figure it out for ourselves. Thanks for having THE TALK. I look forward to trying them when the time comes.

  7. I never really thought I would go thru the hot flashes, nite sweats and so forth, beings I had a hysterectomy when I was 32. I went thru 1 wk of throwing things, esp boxes of cereal, nothing went right, kids fighting you name it, so the Dr put me on estrogen and then shots of men’s testosterone…..Unreal not sure why that, finally another Dr took me off the shots. I have used the estrogen patches those were neat. But been on the same estrogen pills now for alot of years, as it took years to figure out what dose to take that helped balance me out.. But last year turning 52 I started menopause off and on.. I hate the HOT FLASHES they are the worst and your hair gettin wet. But I will survive. Good luck to all women, now I will have to try the Pose products that you have shown here, guess I have never seen them. I tried natural estrogens, those never worked for me. Happy going thru life now each and every one of you and especially the men in your lives, they jus don’t understand this part of Life.

  8. As far as dealing with my own change in life. Oh my I initially I felt like a train wreck. I was on fire one minute and freezing the next and then I cry. I cry at everything…………so annoying. My poor husband just looks at me and says, “it’s gonna be ok Flash.!” Flash! That is what he calls me. His little way of bring humor into the situation. lol Any way I tried HRT for a while, but I have had problems with spots on my mamograms (3 scares in the last year). So I am totally off HRT. I am 50 years old and figured I may as well just tough it out. The worst for me is at night. Covers on, covers off. The good news is that it will get better with time. So I might as well laugh or cry……you just never know which one!

  9. I’m not sure how long I’ve been ‘in menopause’ but it was confirmed this year by my doctor (and a lab test). I told my sons, who are teenagers, exactly what was happening – because let’s face it. It’s 30 degrees outside and I’m sweating in a tank top. My entire family is wearing jackets in the house and I’m sweating through every piece of clothing I wear. I try not to say anything when I’m having “a moment” because I feel guilty for them being cold when I’m so hot. I can’t imagine what I’m going to do this summer. My husband, optimistically, thinks it will be over by then but I’ve read that it can last anywhere from 2 to 10 years. Geez…

  10. What a great product from Poise!! I had a hysterectomy when I was 36 but was able to keep my ovaries. I wondered if I would know when I was in menopause…and I did (in my late 40s)!! I would often have a hot flash on Sunday mornings while getting ready for church…of all things…so I would arrive to do my connection desk job all red faced and wet….and fanning myself. I concluded that stress made my hot flashes worse! The good news is that I did get through that phase mostly…I still have an occasional hot flash…I’m 59…so I think I will be checking into these “cool” products. Thanks for the opportunity. Blessings. 🙂

  11. Although I am not yet in this phase of life, I get awful hot flashes during pregnancy! Usually I head to a cool, dark place to let things pass, but I am excited to try these new products.

  12. Well, I’m only 33, but when the time comes, I would totally love to try what you reviewed. I am a no artificial hormone kind of gal. lol

  13. I’m only 37, but I know its coming. I already get hot flashes, but not sure if its pre-menopause or one of my chronic illnesses! But, I will definitely be checking out these Poise products! Thank you!

  14. I handle all life changes by just accepting and rolling with the new normal! Change is easier for me I guess since I grew up an army brat, always moving around.

  15. I’m approaching the hot flashes with little grace (at times). sometimes my head in the freezer in just the trick.

  16. When we were going through our struggle with infertility my doctors put me into a temporary menopause to kind of kick start my cycle – I was 27 and it was completely miserable. Hopped up on hormones, fighting despair and dealing with hot flashes – I wanted to give up! Now, almost 20 years later, I’m facing a myriad of other health issues so I’m hoping it won’t be as crazy, but I know that whatever happens, God is faithful and He will guide us through! Like you, I will go the natural route and pray they don’t last long!

  17. oh wow! I havent hit that time yet, but I am sharing this post with others that I know are.

  18. I’m only 35, so I “think” I have a few more years before the big changes hit, if I continue to follow my mom’s footsteps. One of the things that I’m trying to remind myself as things start to change, is that I’m not allow and this is not some new and weird thing that it only affecting me. Just like periods, boobs and child birth, all ladies go through these things! I’m trying to remember to look as these changes as accomplishes, milestones, awards for a job well done! lol.

  19. I am approaching life’s changes by alternately ignoring them and growing apprehensive about them. I am not quite to an age to go through The Change.

  20. I just read about those products in a magazine
Im still young 39 to be doing this but I thk the depo is the reason I get hot flashes.
I just crank the ac…familly would rather be cold than me be moody
    .um hot I mean. Lol.

  21. How are you approaching life’s changes confidently?
I am approaching life’s changes in every confident way possible. I am walking taller, looking leaner, watching what I eat, exercising more, walking more, doing more stuff outdoors (when it is warmer) with my family and being more active in my community. I want and will be a better, stronger, smarter and more beautiful ME!

  22. I am approaching life’s changes with some concern, but I am eating right, getting a bit of exercise, really trying to take care of myself, to make the change easier.

  23. I sure wish they would have had these available when I went through it! I’ve been on hormone therapy for some time which has helped tremendously! It’s not for everyone.

  24. I didn’t have the opportunity to know or be warned before I began what the OB told me I was Peri-Menopausing–Peri? Didn’t know there was such a thing- to me I had no clue there was a PERI Menoupause, either you are or you aren’t !!! My OB set me straight! My Mother passed away when I was only 9 n half yrs old so I had no one to even inform me of the facts of life or Peri or Menoupause–this was scary for me at first!! I couldn’t figure out why one minute I was freezing & the next I was hot as heck!!! I thought I was loosing my mind & talk about my mind -thats another story–I was forgetting short term things but my long term was just fine!!!! I thought Yes- Aleins had landed & replaced me with someone strange foreign & crazy to me but yet looking in the mirror I looked like my own used to be self !!!! LOL I refused to go on HRT & chose to go through Peri & Full Blown Menopause without anything only naturally & just deal with come what may!!!! The first few years I felt like I was totally loosing it but as years went by & when I became Full Blown Menopause ( when a woman completely has no more cycles at all its full blown Menopause Dr & research informed me that Peri-Menopause graduates into Menopause!!!! I started looking at it as a blessing instead of a hindrance -I found myself joking more about it– all the disadvantages such as hot flashes-short term memory loss-the up & down emotions-the on & off crying stages & just laughed it off !!!! I even wrote a funny story about Menopause & Titled it “Roller Coaster Yo-Yo Ride ” Written describing in a humorous sense of Menopause!!! I also in the last few years started taking the 50’s Womens Shaklee Vitamins –seems to help My Hot Flashes alot!!!! Other than the vitamins I have faced Menopause with Praying LORD Please help me cope & also have accepted it & just laugh at the different things my body has decided to invade me with this Crazy & Alien like being called Menopause!!!! LOL One question I always wonder about is Men-O=Pause !!!!! What in the world does MEN have to do with Menopause ? LOL I come to my own answer –Men need to be Thanked & start the word Menopause out due to the fact Men have to deal with our Craziness ,Our Emotions Going wacky -Our wanting to tear our clothes off in front of his boss or others etc. so Yes Men You deserve to be involved with the word Menopause!!!!! LOL

  25. To be honest, I’m not approaching this stage with grace at all. I’m actually quite afraid, not for the physical changes as much as for what it means in terms if entering a new stage of life, one that I’m not ready for. I don’t want the baby years to be over.

  26. I am about to be 42, but had a hysterectomy 8 years ago due to other issues, so I am ALL MESSED up, still have my ovaries, but nothing has been right since the hysterectomy, course it wasn’t right before that, that is why I got it done in the first place……..I would love to embrace it, but alas, I am just a sinful mess hoping that “this too shall pass.”……..

  27. I just turned 40 and have noticed that I cry so much more than I did. Anything can set me off. Hubby is a little concerned. Its good to know others are feeling the same feelings. But also good to know that HE is the same regardless of my feelings!

  28. I’m just confident and know that these things are going to happen. I think just acceptance goes a long way.

  29. I am approaching life’s changes confidently by staying in shape, eating well and staying open-minded.

  30. I take a daily vitamin and exercise regularly. I try to stay positive and embrace life!
and realize that changes will happen

  31. At the ripe old age of almost 52, you’d think I’d be post-menopausal. BUT NO! Just when I think it’s all over, Bam! I’m at the store buying tampons. So…due to a clotting disorder, I don’t use HRT drugs or anything even remotely like that. I love natural progesterone cream. And I also keep a floor fan handy. Trying to keep my sense of humor is a must!

  32. Daily exercise and plenty of water definitely help….but not eliminate the issues. Looking forward to trying these new products!

  33. Other than the horrible periods some times lasting weeks and then none for a couple of months I had no problems

  34. Just turned 40 and had my 4th child. I am thinking that although I’ve never been much of the exercising type, it’s time to start! Everything is sliding down. Approaching with plans to exercise!

  35. Not quite to this stage yet, but hope I can take it in stride. Have many friends in this stage and their stories are a mix of humor and fright. Our bodies are pretty amazing, I think.

  36. Handling life changes confidently? Are you KIDDING??? I guess one way I did was by having a hysterectomy at age 46, and had everything removed, and tacked up what was left (my bladder). At age 57, I am just now getting over the hot flashes – and synthetic nor natural hormones helped. Ask my kids about the Thanksgiving dinner I wore shorts — for the entire day — with 13 guests. I tried every therapy I heard or googled. (Black Cohosh seems to get good reviews but it gave me horrendous headaches, so it wasn’t worth it.) I feel like I am coming out of a 15 year sweat lodge, having learned what “enduring to the end” means.

  37. I’m thankful that there is a lot of helpful information available (by googling or asking friends who know more than I do) for when I have questions about changes I’m going through.

  38. My biggest life change right now is having my first child (so no menopause just yet!)! I’m finding confidence in preparing for that by taking time to research it and work through my feelings/fears beforehand, so that when the time comes, I’ll (hopefully) be more ready for it!

  39. I have not had an easy time of it. I am still going through it. I have contacted my doctor regarding different issues and each time she says that what I am experiencing seems to be a symptom of perimenopause with menopause coming on. Some days are good and others really not so good. I just have to take it as it comes. I am not taking medication due to a health issue (unrelated) so I have to do things naturally. I am taking it as it comes.

  40. This is totally cool! I just ordered my samples and can’t wait to try them out.

I am approaching life’s changes confidently by thinking positively. It might be easier said than done. But I’m trying my best.

  42. I’m just taking it one day at a time – and hoping that my symptoms aren’t as bad as my moms were!

  43. I am trying to approach it with a good attitude and warn my husband to get an electric blanket!

  44. I wouldn’t exactly say “confidently” is the way I’m approaching “life’s changes”.
It’s more like “fear and trepidation”. But the only thing I’m fearing is the hot flashes!!

  45. I am so glad to know this ~ I hit 42 in March and just went to the doc who almost gleefully informed me I was in early menopause 10 years early! Kind of wanted to choke him. Taking vitamins intended for those silver ladies and drinking lots of water has helped. Glad to know about these.

  46. I am approaching life’s changes, I think they are around the corner. But I always play the ignorance is bliss card. But it helps to read your post and know there is help out there and many others walking the same road.

  47. I’ve been suffering through my own personal summers where I feel like I am on the very edge of hell! Can’t wait to try these products!

    Debbie

  48. When I feel like losing confidence I talk to my mom and she always give me reassurance. I like natural remedies too but often find them not strong enough.
    songyueyu at gmail

  49. I am taking vitamins (especially vitamin D) to help with mood changes and I go for acupuncture every once in a while to help with night sweats. I have lost weight recently and am exercising every day to keep it off, gain confidence, and help with mood.

  50. I am approaching life’s changes with a postive attitude I am eating right, getting some exercise, getting enough sleep and taking vitamins to make the change easier.

  51. I’m not there yet, but it is something I’m already starting to think about since my mom had early menopause. Nice to see that there will be products to use!

  52. I am accepting that change is a way of life, good or bad. We must embrace change and not try and fight it. That is the attitude I am trying to take anyway!

Thanks for the chance to win!

    wildorchid985 @ gmail dot com

  53. Haven ‘t gotten to menopause yet – will take it one day at a time. Thanks for all the info about products that help out!

  54. I am trying to stay in good health overall – increasing the number of fruits and vegetables I eat, reducing the processed foods in my diet, and walking (or doing some form of exercise) at least four days a week. Keeping stress levels low seems to help, too! 🙂

  55. I remind myself that this is all part of life, I try to keep my sense of humor, and realize that there are lots of ladies going through all this too!

  56. I am 51 years old and have already been through the hot flashes ect. and now I am no longer having the “monthly issues”. It has been relatively easy so far unless of course things flare up again for me. At the time that I was having hot flashes I can’t say that I went through them very confidently. They were horrible, but thank the Lord they only lasted a few months!

  57. I am finally getting comfortable in my own skin! I am caring less about what others think of me and doing the things I like, dressing with more fashion risks than I would have been comfortable with before, and in general just enjoying myself more because I don’t feel the need to impress anyone anymore.

  58. I’m reading all I can about menopause. These items seem like they will be very helpful when the time comes.

  59. I’ve been taking better care of myself both physically and mentally – I’ve been working out and telling myself to take a break every once in a while!

  60. I ask my mom about her experience with it to know what I may expect down the road.

    Oliviatheservicedog at hotmail dot com

  61. i am keeping a positive outlook by saying it may suck for a short time, but once it’s done my friend will no longer be bugging me monthly

  62. Just a few days ago I had a conversation with my daughter regarding menopause. I thought I had managed to get through it without very many issues. She let me know that my mood swings had been dramatic. Now that I look back I remember some very severe periods of depression. I had thought it was all physical, but I realize there are many mental and emotional issues too. At least my daughter is better prepared than I was.

  63. quite honestly, I am 55 years old and still having my period on a regular basis…I take one day a time…and try to keep my attitude positive. I take a multivitamin

  64. i like to take it easy, not get stressed over things! hopefully when i approach menopause i will have it easy and if not these products seem like they would be helpful

  65. Lots of prayer and lots of B-complex…. That is the only way I am ‘making it through’! 🙂

  66. No major changes for me yet, but I’m starting to change my eating habits and realizing the benefits of really healthy eating and hoping that will help me down the road when that stage of my life comes!

  67. Hmm… I can honestly say I’m not doing as well as I would like. This is partly due to the fact that my mother never went through menopause… at ALL! So right now I’m in the research stage but according to my aunts we are late “bloomers”! So far I’m just doing lots of research!! (however getting too warm has ALWAYS been an issue of mine since I was very, very young!)

  68. I’m only 35 so I haven’t entered this phase yet but I am battling my weight which causes many hot flashes! Trying to get my weight under control so I’ll have some peace before the hot flashes start for real. It’s so embarrassing to have a hot flash because of my weight and these products could help ease my symptoms!

  69. Oh my goodness… I have been reading like crazy from both ends of the spectum. My oldest daughter is about to enter this bumpy roaster coaster while I am exiting. Thankfully, we are both ready to make it through!

  70. I moisturize my skin daily, drink lots of water and walk several times a week

    tbarrettno1 at gmail dot com

  71. To feel confident I try to keep my skin healthy looking by using lots of moisturizer and sunscreen.

  72. I’m not crazy about all the side effects of getting older… but… its better than the alternative!

  73. I try to stay consistent with exercise, and I dress in layers for those days when I’m hotter than usual!

  74. Going in and through it with plenty of sleep and knowing that this too shall pass.
