Are You Sending Christmas Cards This Year?

Right about now I start thinking about our family holiday photo.  The kids grow so quickly, life pushes past and there you are again one year since you rounded up the whole gang to take a picture.

We used to send out Christmas cards every year with a family newsletter. Since starting the blog I just kind of figured that people could keep up with us here.  But I realize that many of my family and friends have still not joined the blog phenomenon.  In fact, when I mention to them that I’m a blogger they give me a puzzled, “Poor little thing,” expression.

So this year I’m going to surprise a few great aunts and uncles with a Christmas card and a family picture.  It’s been so long since I sent one that I may need to include smelling salts with the cards.

I’m going to make it easy on myself and order it all through Shutterfly.  Gone are my days of cutting 300 little red and green squares, gluing them onto cardstock, going to the 1-hour photo 3 times before I get it right.  Now I can just click-click-click and it’s all done.  They have so many adorable choices….I can’t decide which one to pick.

The Shutterfly website has wonderful tips and a video about having a Family Photo Day.  I watched it last night and it gave me all kinds of ideas for our family picture this year.  I just need a few bales of hay, some giant ornaments and a cow.

You can watch their video for some photo inspiration.  I’m the first to admit, my idea won’t work for everyone.

If you already have a great photo, Shutterfly has a Cardworthy Photo Sweepstakes on Facebook where they are giving away 4 amazing prizes including a dream trip for a family of four.  I could really use that.  I wonder which 7 kids we’ll leave at home.

I’ll be posting pictures my family photo session after Thanksgiving.  If you haven’t taken your pictures by then I am sure my images of pandemonium will help to encourage you.

I’m really, really excited to be able to give one of you, my beautiful readers/friends, a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR promotional code to Shutterfly!  You can surprise those long lost relatives with a family photo for the holidays….or order yourself something special to hang on the wall.  There are no rules that say you have to spend it on Christmas cards.  But there might be a rule that says if you do….you have to send me one.   Smelling salts not included.
