The Heart of Christmas Giveaway

With the world spinning around us, I love to sit down and watch a good movie with my kids and focus in on home and family.

When I got the opportunity to share a sweet, heartwarming, faith filled movie with you all I jumped at it. I watched it last week….it’s very sweet.  With so few wholesome things to watch these days, I was glad for something the family could watch.

But I’d better warn you….it’s a tear-jerker.  Have a box of tissues ready.

The movie is called, “The Heart of Christmas” and it is coming out on DVD.

The Heart of Christmas tells the story of Austin and Julie Locke, who are devastated to learn that their young son, Dax, has been diagnosed with cancer. With courage, determination and faith, they decide to give Dax one last Christmas – even if it has to be in October. When the community sees the holiday decorations and learns the heartbreaking truth, what happens next is a miraculous outpouring of care and support. The Heart of Christmas will touch your heart and bring home the spirit of the holidays.

If you’re interested in following up after watching the movie, check out The Dax Locke Foundation.  They are working to raise $1.6 million for St. Jude.  Amazing testimony!

Two of you can win a DVD for your family!  Just leave me a comment and you’re entered.  Simple as that.

This giveaway will end on Sunday, November 4 at midnight.  I will announce the winners on Monday morning.

  1. Hi Lisa! I love reading your blog and would adore this type of movie to watch. You see, I was a cancer mom and also dealt with having to live in the moment and celebrate things when you can. My only son Joey, was diagnosed at age 7 and we lost him after a very brave fight when he was 10 in 2003. This kind of movie hits home for me every time, but ya know, I love them. Brings me back to the days when I was able to spend day after day with my boy.
And the devastating disease definitely brings out the good in people. I am sure that is part of God’s plan.
Thank you for entering me in the contest!

  2. Those are my favorite kind of movies, ones the girls can come into Grrlaine’s room, pile up on the bed and we can watch together. Plus we get a message of hope and love and faith at the same time!

  3. Oooh! Love giveaways:) Just want to say I am loving the 31 ways series. Sometimes you need a reminder to stop & enjoy the moment:)

  4. Sounds like a great movie…A friend of mine started the battle of cancer with her Lil’ boy last October. I happy to report that he is winning…The Lord does great things indeed!

  5. We are always looking for a great family movie. There seem to be so few! Yay, for the giveaway!

  6. I absolutely LOVE the fact that since the movie ‘Fire Proof’ was released, the Christian movie industry has seemed to grow (or at least it seems the movies are more prominently advertised). Thanks for sharing this new one!

  7. We just had a cancer scare with our youngest son this week. Praise God the Dr doesn’t think that cancer is the source of his symptoms! The scare did help me refocus on what really is important in life and not worry as much about the little stuff. This movie sounds like another reminder of what’s really important.

  8. I just love a heartwarming Christmas movie with the family – this looks like a good one for us! I’ll be sure to have the tissues on hand! Our children laugh at me when I tear up, but I cry during our A Reason For Spelling stories too, so you know … the waterworks may be a bit close to the surface here! I just hope they see my tender heart as well as the tears! Thanks for the movie recommendation … the good ones are getting harder and harder to find!

  9. This story sounds familiar. Did I read a book? I know we all have known children so sick that we want to make their lives better in any way possible. It brings back memories of two special children–one I babysat –one that I taught… And then my own little girl who was gravely ill but took a turn for better on Christmas Eve 19 years ago. Yes, I’d like to participate in the drawing and ill be looking for the DVD out too

  10. It’s hard to find a quality movie these days. Thanks for highlighting this one. It sounds great!

  11. I’d love to watch this with my family, husband and 3 boys. This will be a great opportunity to really unite and snuggle each other! Thank YOU!!

  12. If this is open to Canada, please enter me.
I’d love to watch this DVD as it looks great and a movie the whole family can enjoy together.

  13. Thank you for this review and giveaway!! We have had some struggles this year, but nothing that would compare to having a sick child! How a movie like this can put everything into perspective and make some trials seem so trivial.

  14. I was so excited to read this post. The story of Dax was something my family followed. He and his family lived just one small community over from us. We decorated our house for Christmas that year earlier than usual – with such joy knowing we were doing it for a little guy. At the time, we had a boy the same age and it was one of those “put yourself in someone else’s shoes” kind of moments. Our kids really embraced the cause and prayed for him. They still remember what we did every year since when we go out and hang our lights.

  15. Hi Lisa. I absolutely love your blog! You seem like my big sister 🙂 my big sister now knows about you and she said the same thing! God bless.

  16. Just reading about this movie makes me run to the family room to give my kids a huge hug and lots of kisses. We too easily forget what a precious gift the time we have with our children is. Thanks for offering this giveaway.

  17. In the movie the last thing she wrote in her blog, what part of the bible is that in , psalms what though? Help!! Id appreciate it. My prayers to this family!!
