Cool Weather, How I’ve Missed Ya!

Oh y’all we are having the MOST wonderful weather.  The extreme summer heat is behind us and I am practically giddy about it.

I actually worked in my workshop on Saturday morning and sweat did NOT drip into my eyes, thus blinding me from being able to see if I was drilling holes in the right places.  The older kids helped me work and the little ones played in the yard while I pretended the heat wasn’t coming back.  I like to psyche myself out like that.  You know those people that tell themselves they have to be somewhere 30 minutes early so they’ll be on time. I tell myself the heat is gone so I will be more productive.

I had to stop mid-day to have lunch with some friends.  I hate to tell you this because it might make you think I am spoiled, but I had lunch out 4 days in a row last week!  It was the weirdest thing.  I haven’t had lunch with a friend in like, a year, then all of a sudden BAM!  I’m like a New York socialite.

My lunch date on Thursday was with 3 of my daughters at a local Mexican place.  We were thrift shopping and they needed to run some errands, so we made an afternoon of it.  I picked up some fun, little things at the Habitat Restore while we were there.  I used this cool junk in a post for Life Your Way today.  But you’ll have to go there to see what I did.   You’ll love it.

But since you’re here I’ll tell you this…..I got a few other things for future projects too!

I picked up these really cool old metal napkin dispensers.  I’m planning to do something for the boys’ bathroom with them.  They don’t have a key, so I thought, “Oh, that will be easy enough to find a key for them.”  Um…no.  I stayed up late Saturday night searching the world wide web.  I had no idea that there are like 250 different possibilities for keys for these things.  I’m not sure what to do, but I am sure I own 5 towel dispensers that I have no use for because I CAN’T OPEN THEM!

Excuse me.  I got a little frustrated there.

On Sunday I was just so glad to have a whole day at home that I stayed in my pajamas all day.  What with so many lady lunches and all, I needed a rest.  I hung with the kids, filled a few shop orders and took a nice long nap.  It was one of those lazy, do nothing days that I long for the rest of the week.

And now we’re off to another fun-filled week at The Point.  School, cooking, laundry, piano lessons…you know, the usual.

Have a blessed week!

  1. I get giddy when we start to have nice days too! There’s nothing that puts a smile on my face like being able to open the windows and let the breeze blow through the house after a long hot summer.

    1. I’m right there with you Randa! We’ve had the windows open for three days! It’s wonderful! Lisa~

  2. I used to work in a little Chinese restaurant when my son was young (one of 3 jobs during that time) and one night I had to fill the salt and pepper shakers and fill the napkin dispensers before I could go home. No one left me the key, it used to be in the cash drawer, but someone lost it….I found that taking a bobby pin and fiddling around inside the lock popped it open every time….my hands might not be as steady now, but I’d give it a try 🙂 I’m sure you can do it, its one of those things you do once, and then you have it. The dark cloud to this silver lining was that I had to always fill the napkins 🙁 LoL

    1. Elaine, wow! I tried to pick the locks, but I couldn’t do it. You can do anything. I’m constantly amazed. Lisa~

  3. Lisa, you could try getting a universal metal cross key. http://www.instawares.com/universal-paper-towel-dispenser-n13ez.n13ez.0.7.htm?s_cseid=GSHP&gclid=CKzC_Ia_sLICFQjf4AodWxgAKA We had to use then when volunteering for my daughters band program. They had the contract for the bathrooms during the NASCAR races at our local motor speedway. These keys would get us into most dispensers. Hope this helps. And truly loving the cooler temps to. I’m so much more productive when I’m not soaked in sweat!! 🙂

  4. How fun to be a New York socialite and have 4 lunch dates in a row! Sounds like a good week to me. I will agree that getting out for several days in a row catches up with you and is tiring!!

Hmmm, you’re going to have to find a locksmith!
