31 Everyday Ways to Connect with Your Child, Day 1

by Lisa on September 30, 2012

Yippee yahoo!  It’s the first day of my 31 day series and I am telling you I AM EXCITED!

I’ve got that first day of school, gonna meet new friends, happy to be alive kind of feeling.  Anyone want to do the happy dance with me?

I keep thinking about how many things need to be done everyday.  Laundry, dishes, appointments, cooking, shopping.  Many of you are working moms, many homeschoolers….sometimes you might want to even take a shower.  GIRL,  I don’t know how you do all that you do!

One thing that can get lost so easily everyday is connecting with our kids.  If you have 1 child, if you have 12, little ones or teens…..you need to make that special connection with each child everyday.  That’s where this series comes in.

I’ll be sharing a TON of easy, fun, meaningful and sometimes downright silly ways to make that heart to heart connection.

That connection you make each day tells your child that you are on his side.  You know he’s there.  You care.  He needs to know that every day, no matter what else is going on.  Even if he’s being a pain, even if he breaks your heart.

Each day I’ll share an idea for making that simple, heartfelt connection.  Most of these ideas take no more than a few minutes.  This isn’t about praise or rewards or discipline.  It’s about making a human, heart to heart, real moment bond.

This will build a foundation of trust and love that will help to carry your child through times that are hard.  Times when they feel alone.

And, as if this isn’t enough, I am guest speaking about this subject on a webinar for Smoothing the Way on the 16th at 7:00 PM.  If you are interested in attending this FREE webinar, just go here to sign up.  They have assured me that they don’t do anything with your email address.  It’s just to send you a reminder notice about this one webinar.

Are you ready?  This is gonna be good!

Oh, I love this idea. I have three kids and I homeschool and I am literally with them all day but sometimes I lose the connection between each child because I’m dealing with all of them. I do have one child whose love language is quality time and I know that I need to work on making sure he gets one on one time with me and I make an effort in that area. I can’t wait to see what ideas I can glean from this series.

Thanks Alia! I know just what you mean. We homeschool moms spend so much time with our kids every day that I think we forget that we have to purpose to make sure we are connecting with them in a deeper way.

Have a great Tuesday! Lisa~

What a marvelous blog and series. Lisa, what I like a lot about your series is how accessible it is. I don’t have to buy, find, or plan anything. I need only remember–with your reminder– the simple gifts I possess. Brilliant! -Susan
