A Messy Room and A Great New Ebook!

Well, our week of making over the girls’ attic bedroom is in full operation.  It took us twice as long to paint as we expected.  The walls were just soaking up the paint, which also means I have to go buy another quart to finish a few square feet on the ceiling.  That’s going to take us over our budget for the room.  But what are you supposed to do?  Leave an big unpainted square on the ceiling?  It can’t be helped.

The plan was to do the whole room for under $200.  In my language that means I can spend $199.99.  In James’ language it means hopefully I will only spend $116.50.  We are rarely on the same wavelength when it comes to money.

Even with $200 that means a lot of scraping and reworking what we already own.  That’s my favorite kind of decorating though.  I love to take what seemed useless and make it fabulous!  This morning the room is anything but fabulous.

Today the girls are going to work on some art for that big black wall while Noah and I build some bookshelves.  It’s just plain old rectangles with a shelf.  Nothing fancy.  The fancy part comes from them fitting the space exactly.  Being an attic, the side walls are only 24″ tall and it’s hard to find premade shelves that size.  They’re like dollhouse shelves.

We did breakdown and get pizza for dinner last night.  It was either that or eat whatever Levi could cook.  The rest of us were up to our necks in painting, sewing and cleaning.  Sara texted to tell me that Little Ceasar’s had their large cheese pizzas for $3.99 and that’s all I needed to hear.

In other exciting news my friend Mandi has written a WONDERFUL ebook that is chock full of ideas for the pantry.  It’s called Easy.Homemade and I highly recommend it.

It’s full of quick recipes for pantry staples, easy ideas to make life run easier.  And since I’m not a natural in the kitchen I will be referring to her book often I am sure!  And it’s only 99¢.  Now that’s a deal!  Click here to view more details

In fact, today would be a good day to use some of her ideas.  I don’t want to eat pizza again.  If I had some of her staples it would be a lot easier for Levi to make us all something for dinner.

Have a great Wednesday!
