City Crowds and 2 Winners

It would have been a normal weekend of filling shop orders and hanging with the peeps.  But I hadn’t been to the grocery store in over 2 weeks, so it turned into mayhem.  Hope, Faith and I hit Walmart early Sunday morning with the hopes of getting everything we needed to make it until Wednesday when I could go to the big city where Costco and Sam’s wait patiently for me.

I don’t know what the Walmart employees were thinking, but they decided Sunday morning would be a good time to restock the shelves.  This meant we couldn’t get down the aisles and many shelves were empty and the whole shopping trip went bust.

So I did what any crazy person would do, I picked up my friend Sara and the four of us headed to the big city to finish my grocery shopping.  This was a mistake of gigantic proportions.  Not picking up Sara, but going to the big city.

Everywhere was packed with people.  As Sara put it, “Everyone must have thought the cold front was a cue to do their holiday shopping.  This place is like Christmas Eve!”

We couldn’t find parking places, we wove in and out of crowds in Costco, me nearly hyperventillating.  I kept saying, “I want out of HERE!” while Faith would squeel with delight.  She loves being around people….the more the merrier.  But all I could think is how easy it would have been for someone to grab her and run.  The whole experience gave me heart palpitations.

Hours later we were finished and dropping Sara back at her house.  We brought our haul home and unloaded.  We are stocked for another 2 weeks and thank God because I can’t do that again any time soon.  My heart can’t take it.  I collapsed into a recliner coma and watched “The Amazing Race.”

Plus I lost a whole day of filling orders, so I will be doing that this afternoon.  I’ve got a whole new line of Christmas products that I can’t wait to show you.  I can tell it’s time for Christmas products because I have a 2′ stack of catalogs in my bathroom just waiting for me to look through and see what I can’t live without.

In other news, I have two winners of my Kleenex and magazine giveaway.  Winner #1 is Peggy from Pigs, Logs and ‘tater berries and #2 is Connie who follows via email.

Congratulations Peggy and Connie.  I will send your prize as soon as I get your mailing address.  Wahoo!

While I recover from yesterday’s crowds, I hope you all have a beautiful, peace-filled week.

  1. OH thank you so very much Lisa! This came as a pleasant surprise this morning as I had forgotten all about the giveaway! I figure by the time it gets here I will be more than ready to sit down and rest as I’m canning applesauce and drying apples this week.

Ugh crowds…. Our boys love them and I get more and more freaked out by them as I get older. Give me little shops where you can chat with the owner, farmers markets, vegetable stands, and butcher shops any day (not that I shop at these places.. well aside from our amish market but I still love them!) Oddly enough that is how we shopped when we lived in Germany when I was a child, out in town in small shops and the commissary on post.

Hope you have a great week! Can’t wait to see the Christmas items in your shop! And once again thank you!!
