You Know How I Hate to Complain

Hello from the hottest part of the living earth.  We can’t use the oven, we can’t turn on lights, we can’t stop whining.  Maybe that last one is just me.  I walk around saying over and over, “It’s so hot,” as if it weren’t obvious to the rest of the family.  I am a delight to live with.

If the heat weren’t enough, I have had a flare up of bursitis in my right shoulder.  Yes friends, I have an old person’s ailment.  I am too young for this stuff.  I may as well be telling you I have denture problems.  Or gout.

But there it is, bursitis in my shoulder.  I have no idea why it flares up when it does.  I have had it three times over the past 2 years and I am about fed up with it.  I can’t use my right arm at all and the pain is so bad that I can’t sleep.  You don’t even want to know how hard it is for me to get dressed.

That’s all I’m going to say about it.  You know me, I’m not a complainer.

By the way, did I tell you it’s really hot?

Today I make my 2x monthly run to the big city for supplies.  I’m taking a couple of kids along to carry things, push the cart at Costco and buckle my seatbelt.  I sure know how to show a kid a good time.  Won’t life be great for Levi when he’s the only child left at home and he gets to push the wheelchair and help his 79 year old mother put on her make-up?

Contrary to the tone of this post, I am in a cheery mood.  My travels are over and I’m glad to be home.  I am really enjoying just hanging out, playing with the boys and going through the new school books.  I watched a movie with the older two last night and that was fun.  What could be better than having grown children around who love the Lord and desire to live their life for Him?  They have such a pure perspective on life…..yet unaffected by hardships or bursitis.

I know how blessed I am.

Y’all have a good day…stay cool….and pain free.

  1. Hope that shoulder settles down soon! So sorry!! I am thankful you are surrounded by such precious people!! I love having all mine around, too. They are wonderful. Be careful in the big city. No scenes in parking lots and no mud boots, okay? snicker, snicker 🙂

  2. You are indeed blessed, my friend….as I am by your friendship. Love you and praying for you!

  3. The only place on planet earth hotter than Texas is Mordor. 111 here today. Keep sippin’ that lemonade and have your kids rub your feet.

  4. Angela, we do have Mordor beat…I have three thermometers in three different places around my house (2 digital and 1 mercury) and they all read over 111. The mercury says 112 and both digital read 114. It’s something to complain about – but don’t tell Lisa!

  5. It’s too hot to even go out and check the mail. Honestly, can we just have food delivered every day until this heat wave ends? Maybe I could have someone deliver lemons so I can make lemonade. But, wait, I might break a sweat while juicing. I guess I’ll have to have one of the kids make the lemonade for me. I like the idea of recliner school. While the littles fan Mommy and keep my glass full of iced lemonade.

  6. Sorry about your shoulder!

It has been one hot summer – we are thankful that my parents have a pool at their house!

Autumn is coming, my calender says September 23rd. Here it will still be hot but shortly after it will start to cool down….Autumn is my favorite season….

  7. You can come visit me its not hot over hear at all, although I can feel our short winter is ending and spring is already on its way- we get about 2 weeks of spring weather before summer weather starts and goes on for 6 months!

  8. It is pretty bad here in AL right now also. I put food in the crockpot this morning so I wouldn’t have to turn on the oven this afternoon and I’m not kidding…the crockpot is making the kitchen hotter.

I know to expect this every year, but I still whine and complain.

Sweet fall, sweet fall, where art thou sweet fall?

  9. Even when you’re complaining you are funny! And you are not alone. I broke my finger in the garage door (6 months ago) and it still hurts! My knees hurt and I’m ready for my kids to go back to school! (but not me, I still want to stay home)
    There… do you feel better?

  10. I am so sorry to hear about your shoulder~
    was it hurting at Gina’s?
I had juvenile arthritis when I was 16. It went away and came back when I was 35.
It left again, a year later, when I changed my diet to better choices. So, I know how you feel!
    The pain stinks.
    I pray you heal soon.
    Poor love.
    🙁

  11. That sounds miserable to have that kind of heat! I totally hear you on the shoulder thing though. I had a mess of rotator cuff problems and in the end I had to have surgery. The upside? Haven’t had a single problem since. Good luck!

  12. Hi Lisa!
My first time here and I love your blog! Will be visiting often! Sorry that you’re not feeling your best but I can so relate. MD has had a heat wave that needs to take a taxi…way outta here. I feel bummed when it’s too HOT. Maybe the heat is making you hurt? It acts just like the cold on our bones, joints & skin.

  13. I will pray that you shoulder gets better soon – I know how hard it is to do stuff with a incapacitated shoulder (bras – are especially tough as are shirts that go over the head).

  14. Hi! Shauna posted about your beautiful deck redo and I loved it!

You are so hilarious – I’m so glad I found you…….from one country/farmgirl to another:

  15. Oh my! Oh my! I feel your pain! Well, sort of. I stay in the a/c. 🙂

I’ve never been to Costco. Can you take pictures? I know that alone is worth a post…

    Blessings to you!
