Home at Last!

I can’t believe it.  I am home from my weekend at Gina’s cottage, fully unpacked and thoroughly hugged.  I’m tired and my cankles are hurting, but otherwise none the worse for wear.

I had a fantastic time with the DIYers at Gina’s.  We did so much work I can hardly remember it all….cutting, caulking, painting, sweating, etc.

Pictures are on their way I promise!  I just need an hour or two to recover.

My drive home was more tiring than the drive there.  I guess three days of extreme home makeover in sweltering summer temperatures took its toll.  Thankfully I had Sonic Diet Dr Pepper to keep me company.  I may, however, have been drinking a bit too much of it.

This morning, on the final leg of the journey, I did something that I haven’t done since I was a child…..I went to the bathroom on the side of the road.  I was desperate and my GPS told me that there wasn’t a bathroom for at least 10 miles.  I didn’t know what to do….it was an emergency.  So I found an old country road, drove down it for about half a mile, pulled over and took care of the problem.  I felt ridiculous and I just knew some old farmer would come along driving a tractor and give me a glare.  Me in my hiked up maxi dress and fancy city shoes relieving myself on his property.  Thankfully nothing happened and I went on my merry way feeling content and satisfied.

TMI?  Sorry.

I missed my family, but truthfully, it was nice to have a week of no responsibility for anyone but myself.  I don’t want to do it very often though.  I noticed that I was talking to myself toward the end.

I wonder if I was talking to myself when I stopped on the side of the road.  Probably.

Wouldn’t an old farmer have gotten a kick out of that?!

  1. I saw some of the pics….great job, and great friends working together. Isn’t it amazing how God can use this ole internet thing man conjured up. We can hook up with good scripture, church, friends and family. Yes, there is evil out there too, but it’s also in the world…..besides we have a Protector. If I were able, I would be taking these trips with you and crafting, creating, and laughing with you all….Thank God for the internet, as it lets me join you ladies virtually, and that is fun too <3

  2. LOL! What no pictures? Oh wait… that might not have made a good picture!
I’m glad you had fun! Can’t wait to see the rooms.

  3. Yeah, yeah, you were talking to yourself when you pulled over. I know you were because I heard you. I was about 16.28 feet behind you, girl. I heard you! I heard you talking to yourself. You said, “Phew!” I heard you. Distinctly. I knew it was you. Well, I mean, I sure thought it was you. Your “Phew!” has a Texan accent.

    Y’all.

  4. I think your choice, under the circumstances, was quite reasonable. 🙂

I am glad, however, that there were no witnesses this time! 🙂

Get some rest, because WE WANT PICTURES!!! 🙂

  5. TMI? Nope. Remember what I told you I’d have to do in my space without a toilet? Well, I did it.
    😉
So glad you are home safely.
So glad to have met you in person.
So glad to have completed that project.

    Love you!

  6. Oh that’s a good bathroom story! No, not TMI. If you’re a woman and it hasn’t happened to you yet, it will. My time was on the Baltimore Beltway, when the company van Just Stopped. I managed to”go” into a water bottle that I had with me. Let me tell you that was NOT easy!
