Bathroom Reveal

Before I show you pictures of my completed bathroom, can we just establish that I am officially too old to be doing these marathon room makeovers anymore?

I know that I am, as a mother, supposed to be setting a good example for my children.  But I am pretty sure I complained for two solid days about being tired or sore or overweight.  Sometimes I just complained that I didn’t have anything to complain about because they were such a great help.

I mean really….when Jacob and Hope are gone I am going to be in serious trouble.  Who will cut all of my boards and build my insane ideas?  I feel confident that when James is the only guy left around here my shelf building days will be over.

I’m not going to share the technical details.  For one thing, I’m tired.  And for another, I’m sending those over to the One Project Closer folks to share with the world.  I’ll let you know when there’s a link, if any of you are interested in how to do wear yourself out saving money.

I am just going to give you eye candy….delicious bathroomness that will make you smile.

Remember before?

And this morning, when I went to use my non-leaking potty, this is what it looked like.

Want to see more?

I will put my hand on a stack of Bibles and swear that I didn’t buy anything but one gallon of floor paint.  Apparently I have a lot of junk around here.  I didn’t even realize how much!

Don’t you love the old doors  on the back wall?

I had my minions build me some shelves for over my toilet.  We used wood from a pallet.  The galvanized tub holds my “private lady things”.  I desperately needed a place to hide them.

Now I will show you how I used my love, the Cricut, in the room.  I really should get some kind of endorsement fee from them.

Would you believe that I had these little knobs already?  We bought them for a project that we never did.  Hooray for procrastination!

Of course I had to monogram myself a towel.  I have informed James that just because it says “His” doesn’t mean he can use it.

The word for the day, boys and girls, is burlap.  I used it everywhere.  Window covering, closet door curtain, towel bar, shower curtain, and to cover the enormous hot water heater.

I know it sounds impossible, but I even had a chair cover.  I bought it at IKEA about a year ago and it has been sitting in my closet ever since.

I need your opinions here….do you think I should monogram it?  Or is it enough already?  If you think I should, then what to put on it?

Wait!  You can’t fully appreciate this unless you see the before:

An how about the floor color?  I love it!  I used it to paint a bunch of little things in the room, including the clock hands.

There you go….there’s nothing left to complain about.  Bummer.

You and those kids are just amazing! You are too hard on yourself; you should be darn proud that when you start a project, you not only complete it, but you do an incredible job. You have every right to be tired and in pain, projects like this take brain and brawn! It looks great.

I love the chair in front of the water heater burlap and I do think it needs wording…be warned that I love quotes and words everywhere so that is usually my opinion on all decorating. I googled “bathroom quote” and went to the images and there are some cute ideas there…but not really your style in my opinion. I came across this URL which appears to sell bathroom wall art…I thought you might find something you like there: http://www.twenga.co.uk/prices-wall-art-bathroom.html

I think something along the lines of relaxation or beauty would be nice for a bathroom. I will be anxious to hear what others have for ideas. A fine job to be proud of for sure!!
    love, Laura

  2. So pretty! I love your pretty, thrifty ways! Monogram for the chair – “take a load off”…or would that be inappropriate for a bathroom??? ;p) Sorry…could’t resist!

  3. Lisa!!!

AMAZING LISA! You need a cape for those super-powers! Seriously – I’m in awe…too cute!!!

I miss you on Twitter! Just saying! And I am totally spoiled-rotten! 😉 LOL!

  4. Can I borrow your children? I really need some labor that will work for cookies and such 🙂 And monogram that chair…I am thinking a crown for Queen Lisa? Enjoy that pretty room!

  5. I’m waiting for the ” & ” towel to hit your Etsy shop. I’d like one that says Rob & Michele for my bathroom!!!

Beautiful, inspiring job as always. Since I’ve been visiting your blog I have 2 or 3 projects halfway done. I started both of them months ago and still haven’t completed them! And at this point they’ll wait till 2011. I started a silhouette picture and redecorating my bedroom where I won’t be buying a thing but paint. Mostly.

So congrats on your reveal – it’s stunning!

  6. Mark and I obviously needed some male offspring…sigh…God sent them all to you.
What a lovely bathroom that sprung from such a “bad” thing.
You are not going to believe me when I tell you that I just bought a pair of THE SAME EXACT SLIPCOVERS FROM IKEA (for a pair of Parson’s chairs that I found at Goodwill for $3.28 each) that you have!
    SO strange.
I was thinking about monogramming mine, too, only mine aren’t in the bathroom, they are in the Music Room.
What about a word like CALM, RELAX, WASH, YOU STINK, PLEASE FLUSH, or something like that on yours?
That cri-cut thingie you have is awesomeness! And so is the cabinet, now~
    :p

  7. Love it!! Your minions…too funny. Mine left this year, now it’s just me to clean up after 4 littles!, and no help with projects. I have a “to do” list going for my son, who will be home for Christmas break. I too am getting too old, out of shape, and fat=( for the projects. My husband and I are in awe at the work we used to do….not so easy when your approaching the 1/2 century mark! (us, not you)

  8. dear Revelling in the Reveal,
Can you tell, I am stalling? My room is calling….and here I sit.
But, there is a good point to this: I am INSPIRED by you to GO and GITTER’ DONE now.
    I love what you did with the burlap. Can you believe I have a huge peice just begging to be used in this project? I washed a small peice this morning to see if it would calm down the stiffness factor a bit. Thinking the bed skirt and or a curtain? The theme is Old-world-Loft, Industrial-Chic,with a taste of Pottery-Barn. {read: EclecticMixWhatEverMakesMeHappy}

I endorse the monogram idea and vote for something on the order of ESCAPE or TIME OUT.

  9. I cannot get over the things you accomplish at your house. I love the bathroom. I would monogram it, and would probably do a P. I’m pretty traditional though – some of the ideas before mine were very creative!
