Pumpkins on the Porch

The pumpkins have just arrived in this part of Texas.  And noooobody has mums yet.  This causes me to ponder.  Why do Texans get their pumpkins after everyone else in the country?  Is there a pumpkin conspiracy?

Since I just got ’em, I haven’t had time to fix ’em all up so I am going to show you my pumpkins from last year.  They were purdy.  I’m gonna do some jest like it fer this year. I’ve decided to represent Texas by speaking Texan for this whole post.  It’s only fittin’ since we got our pumpkins after everyone else.

I luv bows on m’pumpkins.

♫ “Home, Home on the Range..♫.”

Don’t this just make y’all wanna sit fer a spell?

Hopefully next week I’ll have my pumpkins all lettered and ribboned and ready for show.

I just luv the fall.  Around these parts it’s huntin’ time.  But we aren’t huntin’ people, so I jest settle fer m’family on the porch singing the old Texas hymns.

The stars at night are big and bright, (clap-clap-clap-clap) deep in the heart of Texas,  ♫♪

♫♪  the Prairie sky is wide and high, (clap-clap-clap-clap) deep in the heart of Texas!

Go see m’friend Kellie for more fall ideas….and those other folks will prob’ly spare ya the Texas talk.

  2. We get our pumpkins after everyone else because it’s still 95 degrees here in Texas! Love what you did with yours…I just might “borrow” your ideas. ;o)

On another note, I opened my copy of THSC Review yesterday and there you were! It’s been sitting on my bookshelf for a month, so I’m a bit behind. What a neat article about you and your family. Can’t wait to have you come visit us!

  3. Your pumpkins are so cute!

Just for the record I have deep Texas roots on my Daddy’s side, so I count myself among the proud Texans!

I don’t know if you get your pumpkins late…here they are grown everywhere and have only been available for a week or so….

  4. This Jersey Girl has a mighty hard time understandin’ Texan! Great idea to write things like “welcome” and “friends” on a pumpkin instead of the traditional carving. I’m not clever enough to think of that on my own!

  5. Good for you Michele! Now we can see your beautiful face.

Angela, thanks for reminding me that it’s still HOT. LOL! But my Florida friend has had pumpkins for over three weeks now, so I still think it’s a Texas thing. 🙂

  8. Oh Kellie! I’m so sorry it has been a problem. I wish there were a better option! Thanks for telling me about it. I appreciate your perseverance. Lisa~

  9. So cute! I have never thought about decorating pumpkins, just carving them. I have a hard time thinking outside the box. 🙂 I love your porch. I think I could spend every morning there in blissful contentment drinking a cup of coffee.
